A wonderful pub in a beautiful location. The food was fantastic and the service second to none for this kind of venue. They could do with som fairy lights outside to help illuminate the river....a little more romantic. visited The Weyside on 16 Nov 2017

There were only 3 in our party who enjoyed their meal. Complaints....cold food, red beef even when returned to the kitchen, very tough steak, tough lumps of lamb not enough veg. Puddings were passable. I will add though the waitress in charge of our group was excellent. We will not be returning next year. visited The Weyside on 22 Oct 2017

Fabulous venue-Love the boat house outside, love the general feel but I was a little disappointed with the hour wait on food and food did come out cold. Awful meal. Took over 50 mins for some of the food to appear after being chased. Other people's food arrived before ours and they ordered after us. Meals didn't arrive together and we had to chase up one order by which point others had finished their food. Burger portions are small for £13. Sausages and bubble & squeak was disappointing, more watery mash with carrots! Nobody cleared the plates or let us know of the delay. Poor service and food. visited The Weyside on 07 Oct 2017

We had an amazing time at the Weyside. We arrived and left by canal boat. There were delicious burgers and veggie burgers waiting for us when we arrived and the pub's management - Andy & Ana - were brilliant at accommodating a party of almost 45 people as well as a band. I can't recommend this pub and it's staff highly enough visited The Weyside on 30 Sep 2017

Disappointing, lunch menu limited due to things not available, burgers only available from the shack but as our booking was at 12 we couldn't order burgers as the shack was accomdating a private party till 1.30. Drinks order was incorrect, it was corrected but we were charged for the wrong order to, this was after asking removed from bill. Sauces requested to accompany our meals were not bought until after we had finished meals despite asking waitress twice. The normal warm and welcoming Weyside that we have visited and enjoyed many times was lacking the warm atmosphere previously experienced. I have emailed directly as well. visited The Weyside on 30 Sep 2017

From making the group booking a couple of weeks prior to attending to the service we received on the day - the staff were most helpful. They were very accomadating for our puppy and fresh water and treats were bought for her. She was made to feel most welcome. The food was excellent, although the children were not overally keen on the pasta dish they were served. Fortunately for us we were not in any real rush, but as the pub got more popular it was a longer wait for puddings or to see any member of staff due to the volume of people. Just part of being a popular restaurant. We would all happily attend the weyside again. Thank you for having us! visited The Weyside on 25 Aug 2017

Despite being August evening, it was a very cold evening. We didn't need the windows open so we closed those. We asked for the fan to be turned off and it was. The entry door though stubbornly remained opened (always opened again after we closed it). We were all freezing. Forewent pudding to have a coffee to warm me up and we left earlier than we would have done. Food was nice - but had to wait for chips which waitress never remembered (why don't they write orders down these days?). Sitting by window saw a large rat outside run across decking and back!!!! But the good news - is they sell Ranmore beer which was a treat. visited The Weyside on 19 Aug 2017

The location and surrounds at the Weyside are wonderful and have such great potential. I do feel very sad though when the quality of staffing just lets the place down. I've been to eat there a number of times and it really is hit and miss as to whether the staff on duty are working to the standards one would expect at such an establishment. On the occasion they fell very short. Once being shown to our table I ended up having to go and find someone to come and take our order (after more than 10mins...... waiting even for drinks). Food took a long time to come and when delivered there was no mention of asking if we'd like any additional condiments or sauces (with chips!)....... very basic stuff missed. I ended up going to find another member of staff to ask for ketchup?:-( Really it's all standards that any staff should know, but even if they don't, they should be taught how to serve meals. Very disappointed on this occasion. Such a shame as the place really could be so much better....... visited The Weyside on 19 Aug 2017

Upon arrival, despite having booked a table and received an email confirmation, the waitress was unable to find our booking. She left us standing in the lobby for 10 minutes while she looked, so eventually we seated ourselves at the bar. Finally the waitress found our table. It was our son's 16th birthday, so we ordered Prosecco, which was unceremoniously plonked on our table and it was warm! We mentioned this tonth e waiter who said there were no cold bottles! We asked for an ice bucket, but after 15 minutes it was still not cold so we mentioned this again and this time received an apology and a new (cold) bottle in a Pimms jug filled with ice and salt. Upon booking, we had mentioned that it was our son's birthday, but no mention of this was made by any of the waiting staff. We ordered from both the a la carte and the burger shack, but the a large carte meals.came 20 minutes before the burger shack dishes. All in all an overpriced, average pub meal with second-rate service. A lovely venue to look at, but we will not be returning. visited The Weyside on 15 Jul 2017

Booked a table of 12 and arrived to find 2 tables made up with cutlery and glasses for 12 people inside but our table was outside in the garden and not laid and consisted of tables and sofas which was quite difficult for my elderly grandparents to sit at. Lovely table booked by the team. However the pub is too big now and the staff struggled to deal with the volume of people on a warm Friday night. Queues were very long and there were issues in the burger shack, with both customers and the staff themselves. I had booked a table for 7pm but we were not allowed to order our food until 7.40pm because of a large party. Once we had all ordered we had to wait a further 45 minutes for our food to arrive and one of my friends had to wait an hour for hers and we had all finished our food by the time hers had arrived. My friends burger also wasn't the same quality as the burgers we had just had. She didn't have a brioche bun as stated on the menu and her burger wasn't as good as the ones we had had. We also got asked to move by a member of staff because apparently somebody else had booked our table, even though I had reserved it a week in advance and it had my name on the table and we had already been sat at the table for 2 hours by this point. We then felt uncomfortable and decided to leave. It's a shame because the pub is lovely and the food was good on the whole. visited The Weyside on 06 Jul 2017

We booked the Weyside on the recommendation of Farncombe Boat House. While the staff were very nice, the food was pretty bad. By 'Double cooked chips' I think they meant 'cooked once, then frozen by McCain, then cooked from frozen by us'. A cheese sandwich (the most basic of requests you would have thought) was really stingy with the cheese and took half an hour to come - the last item from several we ordered. There is also a burger shack there. I asked on the way in how they cooked them, wondering if they would come a little pink in the middle. A nod. 'Medium' said the guy. They arrived overdone. My brother had to go back to ask for the advertised salad and pickles that were missing from his veggie burger. At £9 (and £4 for chips) for mine, I would rather have had a McDonalds, even though I stopped eating them years ago. The Weyside is a great location for a drink by the river, but the food is almost laughably bad. Youngs pubs in London are generally pretty reliable, but whichever area manager covers this one needs to visit anonymously. He or she will want to sack the kitchen staff or re-educate them to ensure a bit of care is put into providing food that people might come back for. Needless to say, we won't be. visited The Weyside on 24 Jun 2017

Can't even give one star! ( was forced to give one or the review wouldn't be accepted). Non existent service! Queuing for 20 minutes for a cold burger. Overpriced drinks. No tables cleared. No waiters to offer more drinks or take food orders! What a disappointment.... to a night we were all looking forward to! Can't say I'll be back and will be sure to warn others of this shambles! visited The Weyside on 16 Jun 2017

Dear Sir/ Madam, I am writing to complain about the unacceptable experience that I received in your restaurant, The Weyside on Monday 5th June when we were intending to have a lovely a 30th Birthday celebration for a colleague. With a background in Marketing for a 3 Star Michelin restaurant, it was purely embarrassing some of the events in which we experienced today in your property. I reserved a table on Friday 2nd June for 5 people and when we arrived today, just after 12pm we were told we could choose our table – due to how quiet the restaurant was. We waited for around 20 minutes until we ordered and the waitress said “yes you can order now, the kitchen is now open” – this puzzled me as you take bookings from 12pm but don’t state you can’t order until after 12:30pm? Upon order we were told that the buttermilk chicken salad wasn’t available to order and that a sandwich menu was available either – which limited choice for a quick lunchtime bite to eat. The waitress took orders by marking my menu in black dots in front of me, which I thought was really unprofessional. Our starters arrived staggered as they’d forgotten the 2 smoked salmon we ordered. After 30 minutes we still hadn’t received our mains until the waitress came out again to say “sorry more bad news, we have no sweet potato tartlets left can you choose something else”. This left 2 of us rushed and puzzled to look at the menu again (one of which is a vegetarian and so had to order a starter due to other vegetarian option). This then delayed our mains by an hour! I ordered pea and cauliflower soup which was cold and another salmon starter which stated it came with sourdough – I had to remind the waitress of this and I was given white toast – not sourdough 15 minutes after. Overall the service, food and setting was really disappointing. After recommendation from colleagues in work, we were hoping for what you call on your website ‘the best of British classics’ for a lovely celebration, of which turned out to be a 2 hour sour experience and £80 less off. I hope that in the future you will take these points on board in order to prevent them from happening again, and I’m afraid to say that you lost 5 potential customers and future business from one of the largest offices in Guildford. Yours faithfully, Lora Peach visited The Weyside on 05 Jun 2017

Dreadful, I'm afraid. Couldn't sit outside due to lack of umbrellas one the tables. Location was the reason for booking. Terrible service. An hour before we received our food after lengthy discussion with manager. Food awful. I will not be visiting again and will discourage anyone I know from doing so. I have never left a review like this in my life. Sorry but it was a disaster visited The Weyside on 26 May 2017

Fabulous Canadian waitress but awful food. In particular , giant cous cous salad had no salad, just bland grains with no taste at all, limited choices as run out of food. It was a busy evening but we booked weeks in advance and had a very expensive night out with terrible meals. Have given 3 stars as we were given free coffee, otherwise would be less. visited The Weyside on 25 May 2017

Firstly the positives. The on-line booking system worked a treat and having arrived we were shown out table by a charming waitress. The table was well sited with excellent views over the river. The service throughout was excellent and the vegetables were well cooked. On the downside, the presentation was in my opinion poor. The roast sirloin that we all orders was curled over on the plate in a very strange and unappealing way. The meat itself was cut very thick, (probably about 1/4 inch thick) and despite being quite tender was difficult to cut. We all requested steak knives to do so more easily. A thick edge of fat was left on the meat which should have been removed prior to serving. It certainly did nothing to enhance the food and cutting it away was a struggle. The meal overall was on the expensive side made worse by my choice of an overpriced glass of red wine. The location and ambiance of The Weyside is first class but I was not very impressed with the meal and will not be in a hurry to return. visited The Weyside on 07 May 2017

A more limited Sunday menu than at previous visits. Staff member advised change of management and head chef, but we felt she was fielding questions about the changes in a way that she had needed to do regularly. We will leave it a while before revisiting. Did not feel the meal was totally value for money, although the quality of what we had was still good. visited The Weyside on 23 Apr 2017

The whole experience was a disaster from start to finish. We were a party of 9. We were seated and our menus were handed to us and drink orders taken. The menus were totally different to what was on the online menu. When asked the waitress she said due to new management the menus had changed. We booked our table on the website and went by what we wanted off the online menu. This was error 1. Next our drinks were bought over and because of such silly glasses (top heavy) 3 of our party got covered in drinks and also a very expensive handbag and contents! Though this was an accident and we didn't pay for any drinks, as you can imagine it's not ideal for customers to be sat wet! When we came round to ordering our meals, I was told that the vegetarian option I asked for (which remember isn't what I wanted in the first place, as the online menu was different) wasn't being served that day which left another option (nutroast) and as someone who doesn't eat nuts you can imagine how that went down. I then bought my concerns to the man in charge who then told me they could supply what I had asked for off the menu. So not sure why the waitress told me it was off the menu. Once food arrived, we had a cold burger arrive with no bacon, once bacon arrived after asking for it, it was very unusual and there was a hair in the chips. Though the other 7 meals people enjoyed. I won't be returning. First and last time unfortunately visited The Weyside on 16 Apr 2017

We visited for Sunday lunch. Location is beautiful and enjoyed sitting by the canal before eating. However we had terrible trouble ordering ale - we were drinking Camden Pale Ale from the outside bar which the new girl (not her fault) was struggling to pour pints for us. When we tried to order inside no one seemed to know that this ale was not available inside so there was some confusion and I thought I had ordered the wrong thing when I had not - this resulted in me taking over 15 minutes to return to our table with correct drinks. The roast was not up to standard, beef tough, cabbage cut really think including core - not nice, some roast potato's were not cooked inside. So overall great venue but food and service lacking, not sure we will return for eating. visited The Weyside on 16 Apr 2017

We had a very enjoyable lunch, had the most delicious Salmon fish cakes, on a bed of spinach, with a very small portion of Chips and Hispi cabbage. We often go to The Weyside for dinner and decided to go for Sunday lunch as the weather was amazing. We managed to get a table outside which was great, however, we waited for over an hour for our food and the first dish came out cold and had to be sent back and then it took another 10 minutes for the following dishes to come out. I understand it was very busy and hope we do not have an experience like this again. visited The Weyside on 09 Apr 2017

Very disappointing. Having booked a table sometime ago, due to staff shortages the meal took forever to arrive. However it was excellent. On requesting a dessert menu we were told the kitchen was closed due to overload. After an hour we managed to get a menu and we ordered desserts and more drinks. We had to wait in length for the drinks to arrive and then the desserts which again were excellent. Sadly other tables of people, one of which sat 10 left only having a Main. Such a loss of revenue. There was an apology but no discount offered or an offer of coffee or a drink. Also the Accessible toilet really is not in any way shape or form adequate to accommodate a power chair and a PA. Customers rallied around to move bins, high chairs in order for us to access the toilet but one had to be a contortionist!!! Not good when the wheelchair user has a Masters degree in Access and Law. visited The Weyside on 02 Apr 2017

Having been there on many occasions we knew to expect a fairly limited menu. Normally this doesn't bother us but last Saturday there were at least 3 or 4 items on the menu that were in fact 'off'. This left us with very little choice which was rather annoying. Although the restaurant and also the pub were nowhere near as busy as in previous visits the service was quite slow. It was just as well we had plenty of time to get to the nearby theatre before the evening performance began. The only consolation was we were offered a free coffee as they had forgotten an item we had ordered until it was nearly time to pay the bill. I don't think we will be rushing back on our next visit to The Yvonne Arnaud and will use The Cote Brassiere where the menu and service is so much better. visited The Weyside on 25 Mar 2017

Have visited The Weyside on many occasions but very disappointed on this occasion we sat down at 5pm earliest we could book for dinner (first ones in restaurant). To be told that NO sea bass, NO Belly Pork, i ordered burger to which the waiter announced that's the last burger!! (Just in case someone else in our party of 4 was going to order) Felt but sorry for waiter to had the whole evening ahead of him and looked like there was going to be nothing left on menu. As we are frequent visitors to Guildford and The Weyside I think the time has come to look for somewhere else. Would now not recommend. visited The Weyside on 25 Mar 2017

Veg option was awful, looked like baby food as veg were overcooked, ice cream was melting and dripping down the edge of dish. Have been for lunch before but has deteriorated greatly.
