Food was average, very over priced for what you get.. I have been going yo the 3 Guineas for over 20 years, as I am a London Irish fan. I have always enjoyed the food/drink, but this past Saturday 13th Jan was left very disappointed with the quality/price. Steak sandwich was £8.50, but not worth more than £4.50 for what you got. Chicken wings were anemic with a small layer of piri piri sauce. Won't be eating there again. Visited Three Guineas on 2018-01-13

We hired the firefly cellar bar for a 50th birthday party. The staff were great & the food we ordered was lovely. The venue itself is stunning, perfect for a party & all our guests were impressed! Visited Three Guineas on 2018-01-06

Possibly the worst breakfast I've had in years. Service: shockingly bad, Food: Poor at best. Value: non-existent Visited Three Guineas on 2017-12-17

The evening ran smoothly, service was mainly good. Plates were cleared promptly and everyone's food was served at the same time. The area we were allocated worked well. The food, however, was underwhelming and in some cases did not match the menu, eg the kohlrabi coleslaw was just grated carrot and the biscotti was a digestive biscuit. Also the portion sizes were inconsistent. Visited Three Guineas on 2017-12-14

The staff were attentive even though it was really busy. The food was great and although a bit more expensive than a normal pub - it is town centre and was of good quality. The only reason this doesn't get a 5 star rating is Prosecco at £29.50 a bottle is too expensive. Would recommend this pub and much improved since refurb! Visited Three Guineas on 2017-12-15

We were at the Tree Guineas for a work Christmas meal. It took 45 minutes after we sat at the table until a waitress took our drinks orders and this was only because I went to the bar to let them know that no one had come over. The parsnip soup starter was very nice but the salad starter came without blue cheese even though this is how it was advertised in the menu. It was also very vinegary. The mains were all very tasty, even though there was a bit of a vegetable shortage. 2 brussel sprouts and one carrot stick was very disappointing. I had ordered vanilla creme brulee for dessert and it just tasted like egg. It was so eggy, that my colleagues who ordered it and I couldn't eat it. I let the waitress know but wasn't offered any apology or alternative. The table was decorated nicely and we still had a great time despite of the few let downs. Visited Three Guineas on 2017-12-08

We had booked into the cellar rooms and were disappointed on arrival to be told that they were closed and so we sat upstairs. The service was friendly and good, Prices were a little excessive and portion control was too tight, particularly the curry dish. Visited Three Guineas on 2017-10-24

Great venue. Had snug area downstairs reserved which was perfect set up for our party. Staff were helpful. Disappointing that several of the wines were unavailable and a lot of the food dishes we wanted to order weren't available. Drinks were on the expensive side. Visited Three Guineas on 2017-10-07

My congratulation to The Three Guineas and their excellent staff. I really don't want to let out their secret of their Cellar Bar, I'd rather keep it to myself, but I can't be that mean; everyone needs to know about it. We recently hosted Business Bites there and I cannot shout out highly enough as to the care attention and support they gave us to make our night as success. Thank you Jayden and your excellent team. We did have a lovely time thank you although we didn't actually use the reserved area at all as it was the hottest day of the year so far so we sat outside! Apologies for that but we did stay at your venue for the duration of the evening. Visited Three Guineas on 2017-05-26

Hi there, Thanks! We had a wonderful party for my husbands 40th on Saturday. Everyone thought the food was delicious and the venue beautiful. The only small comment would be that the beef sliders were way bigger than I was expecting for a canape so we had lots left over at the end which was a shame. Apart from that great service from reservation onwards. Would definately recommend to friends. Thanks Visited Three Guineas on 2017-05-13

Upgrade is nice, but still feels a little like an old man's pub, good for a quiet after work drink or a chat; doesn't do cocktails or a happy hour so didn't really do it for a party night out. Visited Three Guineas on 2017-04-13

Excellent waitress, friendly, helpful lass from S Africa. Clean, newly refurbished pub/restaurant and very pleasant all round indeed. Delicious food . I had fabulous ham shank with new potatoes and side salad. Really, really great! My son chose fish finger sandwich which was in fab doorstop bread with amazing fresh crunchy hit battered proper fish inside. Awesome! Mothering Sunday free Prosecco for me was a lovely surprise! Would definitely recommend and I'd go again. Thank you. Visited Three Guineas on 2017-03-26

Amazing night, we were moved from the very loud main bar into a really nice private area that was a lot more personal and it was lovely. All the staff were amazing. The only downside was that they ran out of Pinot Grigio and Prosecco, but staff were really kind and offered alternatives. Food was pricey but beautiful and nothing was wrong with our order. We will definitely be coming again. Thanks to Andy! Visited Three Guineas on 2017-02-25

We travel to Reading several times a year, by train from Exeter, to pick up our grandchildren, who travel by car from Kent. We always meet at The 3 Guineas - no pub/restaurant could be more convenient. Last Sunday, we were looking forward to experiencing the newly renovated pub interior and its food and drink offerings. It was good to be able to book a table before travelling and also to receive a voucher for a free drink. When we got there we were impressed by what we saw. Then we met our family and sat down for lunch together. However, as one who normally doesn't eat much at lunchtime, I was disappointed by the very few "pub snack" options available, In the end I chose fish and chips, although it was more than I wanted. I ordered at the bar and made it clear twice that I wanted garden peas, not mushy peas, and got the barman to confirm it. But, when it came, it was served with mushy peas. To be fair to everyone, the waitress took it back and a new plateful was cooked to replace it - not heated up! The food was great, especially the fish batter, but I was lagging behind the rest of the family, as a result of what had happened. They had also enjoyed their Sunday Lunches, except my granddaughter. She had chosen the child's menu, as it included ice cream, but had been disappointed when it came to choosing her dessert to be limited to 3 flavours, none of which she liked. In conclusion: 1. We like the new 3 Guineas. 2. The service was exceptionally good. 3. Overall, the food was good and enjoyable. 4. Why not offer a choice of either mushy or garden peas - up front. Many people do not like mushy peas and resent having to ask for proper peas as a special arrangement? 5. Make it clear, when ice cream is included, if there is a limitation on choice, so young ice cream fanatics are aware beforehand and not disappointed later. Having said all that, we shall be back. We hope to award 5 Stars next time. Visited Three Guineas on 2017-02-12

the food was good but very expensive, and considering it was a station pub it was full of people watching the rugby and therefore noisy, we also had people putting their drinks down on our table so for that type of meal it was too packed and way too noisy Visited Three Guineas on 2017-02-11

We went to Three Guineas for a work lunch and found the food to be fairly average for a premium price. We all would have expected a higher quality for the price. The service was slow, particularly when we asked for condiments for our meal. Unless the quality is improved or the prices changed we will not be returning. Visited Three Guineas on 2017-02-01
