Restaurant Pine

Description

Just outside Newcastle, hidden among the rolling Northumberland countryside, Restaurant Pine is a genuinely special destination that’s well worth the journey. Set inside a beautifully converted barn near Hadrian’s Wall, it pairs rustic calm with a sleek, contemporary dining space, complete with an open kitchen and sweeping views across the fields. The atmosphere is intimate, immersive and quietly theatrical - the kind of place where the outside world melts away as soon as the first course arrives.

Pine is run by husband‑and‑wife team Cal and Siân Byerley, alongside head chef Ian Waller and sommelier Vanessa Stoltz. The cuisine is modern British with a deep focus on foraging, farm‑to‑table produce and sustainability, much of it sourced directly from the surrounding land. Tasting menus evolve with the seasons, showcasing Northumbrian ingredients through thoughtful, technically precise dishes that feel both grounded and imaginative.

Since opening in 2021, Pine has earned an enviable reputation, holding a Michelin star and a Michelin Green Star in recognition of its commitment to sustainability, as well as a SquareMeal Gold Award. With its heartfelt storytelling, incredible sense of place and beautifully executed cooking, Restaurant Pine has firmly established itself as one of the North East’s most exciting dining experiences.
