It can always be said that Manchester's 'Positive Education' are gratifyingly consistent in an ever changing landscape of fickle music trends. Continuing in this vein on June 15th at Sound Control, they welcome a double header of Funk D'Void and Alex Niggemann for a night of solid, cutting edge music.
It's safe to say that native Glaswegian Lars Sandberg is better known throughout the world as Funk D'Void. His musical history is intertwined with the city, coming to fame through Slam's seminal label, Soma, with his 1995 heads down smash, Jack Me Off. From the seminal 1997 LP entitled 'Technoir' to his releases on his own imprint, Outpost Recordings. Funk D'Void's name has been synonymous with record collectors for two decades this experience and attention to detail of dance floor dynamics is very much reflected in his DJ sets.
In collusion, Dusseldorf born, Alex Niggemann provides a perfect compliment to the bill. Now based in Berlin, the esoteric producer and DJ has successfully built a steady career which started very modestly running errands for DJ-T in the early days of Get Physical. He was immediately recognised as a talent after co-remixing Bookashade's 'Darko'. A string of solid releases and remixes for labels like Tsuba, Poker Flat and Freerange, and a vast diary of gigs including his paranoid funk tour which took in over 40 gigs in exotic locations throughout the globe has established Alex Niggemann as a true player in the house music community.
With three Deep DJs and Low Down & Dirty resident Craig Whittaker in solid support, this date should be immediately marked down as one for the music lover. Buy your tickets now!
