Phantom Femmes is a new ghost walk around the city, focussing exclusively on stories of women ghosts. On this tour you will be regaled with tales of:

A tragic workhouse girl that takes afterlife vengeance...

Wife selling…

A notorious 'itchy' ghost

A heinous criminal...

A peeping Tom spirit...

And more...! 

Unlike my other tours, this walk isn't theatrical.  Yes I may dress a bit goth as I lead you around, but there won't be the usual comedy and dramatic costumed vignettes, or characters leaping out. But don't worry, it'll be just as spine-chilling and full of intriguing stories. AND, if you fancy yourself as a bit of a psychic medium, or at least an aspiring one - you will have an opportunity to do a bit of paranormal investigation yourselves, if you wish. How? Well, this will be revealed on tour...

What we will also discuss is why so many ghost stories are based around women, and what this tells us about women's lives both then and now.  After all, the ghost story is more popular than ever, and is that because it is still needed?

Don't worry if you don't spot any ghosts on tour. We finish the journey at one of London's most haunted pubs, famous for gin. So you can always drink some spirits instead! :-)

1. The ticket holder voluntarily assumes all risks and danger incidental to the event for which the ticket is issued, whether occurring prior, during or after the event.     It was so refreshing to find this interactive walk about sex workers very respectful of the women themselves, putting their stories in the historical context of the all-prevailing patriarchy of the eighteenth century. The host Maria has clearly researched her subject thoroughly but wears the knowledge lightly and is never less than engaging and enthusiastic. All in all, the tour, including the talented actresses playing various roles, is entertaining, professional and occasionally very moving.

    We’ve done loads of walking tours, but this is special. It’s packed with brilliant stories, but it’s the immersive element and easy charm of Maria. That makes this something special.
