Founded by Dan and head chef Zaw, both of Burmese heritage, Lahpet is one of London's only restaurants to specialise in Myanmar's cuisine. Springing from a critically-acclaimed concept in a Hackney warehouse, its West End site opened in 2022, and the rest is history. 

A short stroll from Covent Garden sees this modern eatery tucked away on Slingsby Place amongst the bustle of the city, offering a tranquil interior of greys and light wood. High chairs topped with leather cushions are lined up underneath glowing cylinders of light and clusters of foliage, while speckled tiled flooring guides diners through to a glass-panelled bar.  

It's here that Dan and Zaw shine a light on Burmese flavours, showcasing specialities and statement plates mixed with a contemporary flair, creating a moreish menu of braised mutton curry topped with daikon pickle, hake masala alongside lemongrass and cassava rosti and hearty bowls of fish noodle soup. Whether a light lunch is on the cards or a set feasting experience for £45 per person, there's something for everyone. Especially in the drinks department, as the cocktail list provides an innovative take on classics with tipples such as a turmeric sour, made using pisco plus lime and yuzu juice.
