Sohaila

Description

Created by Fat Macy's, a social enterprise that helps people rehabilitate through culinary and hospitality training, Sohaila is a Middle Eastern restaurant and wine bar dishing out moreish sharing plates at its Shoreditch High Street location.

It's spread over two floors, the first of which is a bright, airy dining space featuring royal blue and white exposed brick walls paired with soft oak furniture. The second is a cosy basement bar with high-chair seats to perch atop and sip low-intervention wines.

The menu entails ever-changing, seasonal dishes made using local and sustainable ingredients. Suppliers include the likes of Neal's Yard Dairy, Hackney fishmonger Fin + Flounder and family-run butcher HG Walter, whose produce goes together to make friggitelli peppers alongside za'atar (£8), deep-fried mussels, zhoug and lemon (£12), plus roasted poussin 'musakhan' style (£23).
