What they say:

From what started as a market stall, Lahpet has gone from strength to strength. While the Burmese restaurant still has its spot in Spitalfields Market, it's now opening another restaurant following the decision to close in Hackney. The team have decided to relocate to a more central position, taking over the spot formerly occupied by a tapas restaurant in Shoreditch. Expect the same great mix of dishes from Myanmar, including tea leaf salad and curried aubergines stuffed with dried shrimps, oyster mushrooms and corn.

What we say:

Honing in on the gap for Burmese food, Lahpet has quickly made a mark on foodies' radars. Now the restaurant is heading to Shoreditch for a new space and new look. Dishes are made from native ingredients found in the South-East Asian country, using a mix of traditional recipes and innovative cooking methods. The new menu has yet to be released but we're hoping for a few old favourites including fish chowder, pork and mustard green curry, and hake masala.
