During a week of celebration, education, and awareness surrounding gender equality, Chef Patron Martha Ortiz will host a star-studded chef panel at her esteemed modern-Mexican restaurant Ella Canta, Mayfair. Taking place on Wednesday 11th March, the panel will be discussing how far the restaurant industry has come in terms of gender equality during International Women’s Week.
Keeping things equal, the panel will be a 50/50 split of male and female big-name chefs. Martha Ortiz will sit on the panel alongside Tom Phillips of Restaurant Story, Olivia Burt of Claridge’s, Santiago Lastra of Kol, Sabrina Gidda of AllBright and Ollie Templeton of Carousel.
Chef Patron of Ella Canta, Martha Ortiz, is a force to be reckoned with, boasting three restaurants in London and Mexico. A regular advocate and champion for women in the industry, Martha hopes for more women to break the ‘caramel’ ceiling and revolutionise Londoners’ perception of Mexican food.
The panel will discuss significant topics such as
how the hospitality industry has evolved over years, how there are more women entering the industry more than ever, and
look at which movers and shakers, both men and women, have been pivotal to this change.
The chefs will also look at whether this change in dynamic has affected creativity, delivery and the environment, paving the way for both male and female chefs to shine.
Guests will be greeted by a welcome cocktail before taking a seat in the vibrant and chic restaurant whilst canapés of exotic dishes from Ella Canta’s vibrant menu will be circulated throughout as the panel kicks off the conversation.
