The George is an 18th century, Grade II listed pub on Great Portland Street, Fitzrovia. Across two floors, we offer a food and drink menu befitting of a modern London public house.
If pubs could talk, this one would have a lot to say. As a central hub for the political, cultural and social movements of the late 18th century, home to writers and poets in the 20th century, and in recent years, a favourite haunt of locals and travellers alike, The George has seen it all.
Join us for great Guinness, Irish Whiskey and Irish Coffees, served alongside cask ales, craft beers, seasonal cocktails, an extensive wine list, and food served all day.
Our Private Dining Room at The George offers an elevated and elegant dining experience, with interiors paying homage to its former use as the grand Georgian living quarters of the pub’s previous landlords.
Boasting chandelier lighting, an ancient brick fireplace, a long banqueting table and a stunning stained glass wall, our private room is a beautiful location for intimate dining in the heart of Fitzrovia.
This space comes with a capacity of up to 20 people seated and 30 standing, with table service, an AV system, a personal TV screen for sport or presentations and WiFi throughout.
Opt to upgrade your experience with a personal Guinness keg for your group, serving 53 pints.

Named with an affectionate nod to the pub's past, The Gluepot Bar honours The George's history as a place where musicians famously got "stuck" for too long during intervals of concerts in nearby Langham Place.
Accommodating 4 people seated or up to 10 people standing, our cosy bar is home to classic cocktails, world whiskeys and an extensive selection of wine.

If cultural institutions was a question on Pointless, I'd hack a guess that ‘the pub’ would take the number one spot. Whether it’s helping you nurse your Sunday hangover or letting you scream at a big TV in decibels not welcomed at home, like a reliable friend, it's always got your back. I can…
