What they say:

Step away from the golden syrup and prepare to have your pancake-eating habits changed for life with new L'Ami Malo. The Spitalfields opening will be serving Breton-style galettes, a savoury form of crepe made using Buckwheat flour, meaning they are also gluten-free. Expect traditional flavours with a gastro twist such as Hepburns smoked ham, duck egg, maple cured bacon and Comte cheese, as well as Asian-inspired 'Maki' rolls with smoked salmon and sunflower seeds.

What we say:

With a whole host of hot food trucks and renowned restaurants, Spitalfields has established itself as a London foodie hotspot and L'Ami Malo looks like it will fit right in. The new venue is inspired by the French town of St Malo as well as the nearby City of London; think minimalist interiors such as marble-topped tables, rustic tableware sourced from old French factories and floors and walls of reclaimed timber. As well as serving a whole range of galettes, the two-storey venue has a stand-alone bar called Le Moulin which will serve seasonal cocktails and craft cider from Northern France.
