The Tokenhouse London - Moorgate Gastro Pub Review

Why is this great for a date:

The Tokenhouse is in an ideal location for a quick evening drinks and dinner date, located near to Bank, Liverpool Street and St Pauls stations, its an easy place to meet after work for some great food and a bottle of wine. The high ceilings, exposed brickwork and large bar area create a much more relaxed â€East London€™ vibe for a pub that is smack bang in the middle of the square mile.

The Tokenhouse knows that a great decor creates a great vibe

How the date went:

We met early for our date straight from work, which was both a blessing and a curse! My job doesn'€™t necessitate for me to wear a suit€¦ Which obviously meant being in Bank at 6:30pm, I stood out like a bit of a sore thumb. Luckily, my date, who does work in the city and therefore fitted in perfectly, found it highly amusing! The bar was quiet and enabled conversation to flow. We shared a bottle of wine, in the raised seating of the bar, before deciding the menu looked too good not to try. We moved into the restaurant area to eat, which by now had a few tables occupied and positioned ourselves on the bench seats over looking the kitchen. We stayed for another drink after our meal, before jumping in a cab back home. All in all, a successful evening.

The Tokenhouse's eating area is all nice and cosy

The drinks list at The Tokenhouse isn'€™t the most inspiring, but then who goes to a pub to drink fancy cocktails or expensive wine. It serves the purpose of somewhere relaxed to meet, drink, chat and have a laugh. The food was very good for pub grub, and the portion sizes far better than many gastro pubsyou visit. Its never going to win you any prizes for the swankiest date shes been on, but if you'€™re looking for somewhere after work and you've already done all the impressing; you can do a lot worse!

I think my date put it best, when she said it's like Shoreditch in suits.
