Good Ship Comedy presents Hal Cruttenden

- The Colonel Fawcett
Hal is easily one of the finest heavyweight acts on the British circuit right now, his blend of impotent fury at the world and pricking of his own pomposity making him a real favourite. He is the conscience of well-meaning liberal middle-class Britain, who desperately wants to make the world a better place, but only after he's had a crisp Chablis. His huge skills has taken him all around the globe entertaining crowds as far afield as Indonesia, Singapore and the Falkland Islands. Back at home he has been nominated for Best Club Comic multiple times, appeared in the film classics such as 'Mrs.Dalloway' and 'The Madness of King George' and smashed the living daylights out of his appearances on Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News For You and Sunday Night at the Palladium.
"An absolute joy to watch." The Scotsman
"Hugely talented." The Times
Originally from Nottingham, Sarah Keyworth is fast-becoming a regular on the London circuit. That not surprising after her nomination for Best Newcomer and winning a prestigious Herald Angel Award.
Her material is a mix of honest anecdotal storytelling about her Midlands upbringing, made surreal with the occasional addition of a silly observation. She delivers sharp lines with a cheeky smile and moments of sudden deadpan that leave the audience wanting more.
"She has a subtle, slightly sinister stage persona, which only serves to emphasise the wildly funny material." The List
"A complete breath of fresh air." Edinburgh Festival Magazine
Nic Sampson is a comedian, actor, and writer from New Zealand (post-apocalyptic bolthole for the rich), currently living in London (filming location for Paddington 2). Nic is a co-writer on series 2 of Rose Matafeo's Starstruck (BBC, HBO Max) and plays Steve in the show, as well as being a writer and performer on NZ sketch series Funny Girls and topical comedy show Jono and Ben. A much garlanded performer in his home country, he was the winner of the Best Newcomer Aware at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival and subsequent two-time nominee for best show.
A relative newcomer to the circuit who is already making a big impact with her world-weary, bone dry comedy. She's already won the prestigious Beat the Frog World Series at the Frog and Bucket in Manchester and is sure to go on to bigger and better things.
"Here black humour certainly hit a chord with the room." Chortle
AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:
BEN VAN DER VELDE
One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.
"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine
“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.” Huffington Post
