Saturday 31 December 2016

If Lewis Carroll created a 21st century party land he might have ended up with something like The Piccadilly Institute. The massive club space contains six stunningly original party rooms under one roof (one is inspired by A Clockwork Orange) with an overall inclination to the bizarre. Lacking no imagination and with a bold and adventurous approach to party experiences this central London club is a pleasant sensory overload. It’s a great West End club to go dancing, exploring and trying a quirky cocktail. Why not try the Liquid Therapy In a Padded Cell cocktail that serves six people? (Eristoff vodka, Archers, Crème de fraise, Cranberry and Peach purée topped with Prosecco.) They also serve tasty nibbles, stonebaked pizzas, burgers and miniature versions of British classics if you’re looking for a meal.

The dress code is only natural for a West End club with a No hoody's, No trainers, No sportswear. No Timberlands allowed. Collar and shoes are preferred but don’t worry about getting a personal stylist. Dedicated to the principles of pleasure, there’s something for every mood, every scene, every desire, so enjoy the labyrinth of rooms with six different experiences each totally unique.

Entry Monday - Thursday is £5 after 9pm, Friday £10 after 10pm, Saturday is £10 after 10pm, £15 after Midnight and free until 11pm for DesignMyNight customers and Sunday is free entry!

Have been here a few times, skipped the queue as my friend was an ex staff member and we got let straight in. (Very handy, as the queue looked long and miserable in the rain) Fun themed rooms to explore once you are inside, cocktails served in rubix cubes, pill bottles or clear top hats. Great club for a big dancey night out with your friends.

Had an amazing night here with the girls. I'm a student so the cocktails were a bit too expensive for me but you can get a bottle of wine for around £19 - not bad!

This club is disgusting, My daughter book a table at this club for her 21st birthday party, she was refund entry and her birthday was ruined. The club discrimination against the group. When my daughter asked to speak to a manager, she was told there was no manager working. We have now found out that it was the duty manager on the door that refused entry. Awful place please, please boycott it.

I have been here this is a nice place and I love to party here...Under one roof you have 5 places to go and check, the music is great and it fun to be here...The DJ plays good music and decent crowd, drinks are lil expensive vasee visited Piccadilly Institute on 03 Oct 2015

Attention is a tourist grabs it changes the price of admission if they see you are foreign, the girls at the reception are very rude and the best joke is the toilet he'll put soap on hands and you stretch out a towel and in return you have to pay. the clientele is not good in this disco.j'ai traveled such a shit but I have rarely seen. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I have mixed thoughts on this club. I have previously been on a Friday and Saturday evening and had a great time, however I went to their Halloween party and it was a complete mess. My friends and I had booked a table and were told to arrive by half 9 as they were extremely busy. My friends got to the club around 9 and were shown to our table no problem. I arrived at half 9 and the queues were absolutely insane - I spoke to a man at the front who told me I would have to join the back of the queue even though I was on the guest list and had a table booking. I then had to pay £5 entry and the lady with the table booking clipboard claimed there was nothing at all under the name I provided, even though I told her my friends had already used the name to get in half an hour earlier. I finally found my friends after searching the club myself - but the atmosphere was horrible. There was supposed to be 2 queues outside, one for guest list and one for tickets, but the bouncers were just letting EVERYONE in. My boyfriend and I didn't even get ID'ed, and the club was so packed it was like being in a sauna. Infact i could barely hear the music over the sound of people's voices and there were queues just to walk up the stairs let alone the toilets. I would not recommend going here on an event night - very poorly managed. 2 stars just for the previous nights I have had here. Phoebe visited Piccadilly Institute on 31 Oct 2015

This club is disappointing they told me pay £150 vip you get on the guest list and go straight in rubbish you still have to queue plus vip table we had was a table pushed against a wall with 3 chairs for 11 people drinks came late and with 7 glasses when asked for more she never came back

Thank you for your feedback, this complaint has been passed directly to the General Manager at Piccadilly Institute and he will be personally in touch with you. All areas and Guestlist have their own queue but all customers are subject to a search and ID check so there is still a queue aspect, the General Manager will address your area size issue Many thanks, Danielle McRobert National Account Manager Late Night London

Great night out! The staff are extremely helpful in organising special events and surprises during the night. Also they do their best to make the night as enjoyable as possible for you and the whole group.

Brilliant night out. So different to any other night out. Different floors, all sorts of music. Great value for money. Happy hour is a bonus. Really enjoyable night at Piccadilly institute.

Hilarious and insane. Packed full of people, mostly men, so that dancing becomes a matter of fighting off crowds. If you're prepared for the fight and to stand up for yourself, you'll have a good time nevertheless (it's not quite Oceana levels...). Drinks are fairly well priced, and occasionally in jam jars-- although, refreshingly, not in a hipster way-- or perspex top hats... I have every confidence that I will end up there again more than once, but more in the case of if I found myself fairly drunk and in the West End, looking for a place to go dancing, but I perhaps wouldn't *plan* to go. It's a large, fun, lively place and certainly not for the weak-hearted.

This club is very hit and miss. I have been here a few times. Some nights I have had the best night of my life. Other nights just 'ok. I would like to give it a 3.5, as 3 is harsh but I do not think it warrants a 4.

Visited a couple of times with large groups. Good night if you like a lot of people with lots of rooms for different music. Cheap drinks and messy people. I wouldn't dress up too much for this place, just enough to get in. Your shoes will wither step in something or have something spilt on it.

I booked to go here for my first night out as an 18 year old and I can't say Much apart from it was okay... We went before 11 and the queue was very short. I was wearing a dress and Nike free run trainers and I was let in without hesitation- nobody asked me if I was changing my shoes (even though I did to heels later). When I got in I realised how non selective they were. People were in flats an trainers, so much for "look your best". However, the music on the first floor is pretty mainstream and the room was insanely packed on a Saturday night. Somebody grabbed me and picked me up, and the steward who saw him of then started to grab my waist and flirt etc so I had to walk off despite him tapping me as I left him. Aside from the cramped first floor I suggest you go to the top room- the clinic, where house remixes of popular tunes were played. It was up here I had a blast and danced with my friends, and the blue lighting and smoke added cool effects. I geners,y felt more comfortable up there and I had a pretty good time! So aside from my rough experience on one floor, to me the door staff were pretty nice and the bar staff were excellent. Would go again!

The place is good, well located and the rest and bar areas are nicely separated. However there is only 1 and a half dancing spaces and it was waaaay too crowded. Not to mention that the music wasn't amazing
26 Sep 2014 by paulaurruti

This is a really good place. Worth visiting on weekends Music is good. Sometimes crowd will be less to start with but increases with time and in no time fully crowded.
01 Sep 2014 by proprashant

Overall a good night for my birthday, however it was very messy when we arrived and the area we were given (the clinic) was dead. It did pick up after about 11pm, but this only gave us an hour or so to enjoy it as trains back on Saturdays aren't late ones.

Not a good place for clubbing on weekdays. The club was completely empty around midnight. My friend and I walked around the club once and walked out. Try on the weekends.

Last night I came to your venue after a friend's birthday party at Grace Bar as we had free entry. As soon as we got in our group of friends split across the two floors for a few minutes to try and decide where we wanted to stop - depending on music and atmosphere. I was standing by the stairway for a few minutes when a bouncer told me to move (not very politely) to which I politely asked if he could wait a few minutes as we didn't all want to get lost, he said it was fine . In the meantime a female bouncer grabbed my arm and pushed me down the stairs (rudely and violently) and was followed by yet another bouncer who started grabbing and pushing me by gripping onto my arm with force. When I asked them to stop touching and pushing me and to talk to me the male bouncer started speaking to my friend and told him he was kicking me out ( he decided not to even tell me that) - may I add that we were all pretty sober and in a good mood and definitely not looking for any fights. Your manager arrived and didn't even hear us out, he saw what was happening and didn't intervene - he is a poor excuse for a manager! When I asked the bouncer that was kicking me out the reason for it he replied that he was kicking me out as I was **sentence being moderated** - believe me it doesn't end here! I was appalled and knew that there was a reason why I stopped going out in the west end- this is a tourist trap and your staff need a reality check and a course on how to deal with people - they are a disgrace and should not be allowed to treat people like that!

Thanks for your feedback with regards to your recent visit to us. We welcome all comments as it helps us to improve our service. As we are a very busy venue we take safety of our guests very seriously. The top of the stairs is a high risk area and as such we need to keep the area as clear as possible. Our security staff are trained to look after this area efficiently and safely. On occasions guests are asked to leave the premises. As I was not present, I'm afraid I cannot comment upon the reason you were asked to leave. I have spoken to our Head of security as well as our General Manager who are investigating the incident however please do drop me an email so that we can discuss further - stacey.cooper@novusleisure.com Thanks again for taking the time to write to us

Booked a space for a large party, 5, could barely stay there... Music is very good however the decor is tacky and outdated... Good for a standard night out but not a special event..
07 Apr 2014 by ELEGANZER

Its been a few years since I’ve been here but it attracts the type of crowd that I had remembered, there are a lot of different rooms with dances floors/areas in each. DJs plays a variety of music in each room, for me it reminded me how old I actually am and felt its probably left to the younger crowd. Still consider it a good clubbing venue.

A little disappointed, but made the most of the evening music was good! lots of weird & creepy guys!! round 5/6 areas rooms with various music playing!! rooms were very over crowded lots of pushing to go through to the other rooms which was not nice didn't seem to be any supervision!! wouldn't want to be there if anything happened!!! They need to be more in control on the amount of people they let in.
20 Jan 2014 by platinum

Went here a few weeks back and had a great time. It was packed to the rafters with a decent enough crowd and there's about 5 or 6 rooms so plenty of variety. Also... There's only a room with a flashing dance floor playing 80s and 90s classics, isn't there?! Spent most of the night in there to be honest

20 Dec 2012 by carolined

hmmm, went here with my two girl mates, the venue is very cool but the people inside ruined it for us...be prepared for creepy guys. Expensive to get in £2 for coats and expensive drinks. wont be coming here again, a shame as it could be a great place

13 Sep 2012 by out&about

I had such high hopes for this place but was left very disappointed. I was not exactly expecting a themed bar but the fact they try to sell it as such when all they have done it given some staff members scrubs to wear is very weak. The food was average and the drinks very overpriced, but it’s the heart of London so hey what do you expect! My evening though was seriously marred by having my coat stolen and being witness to a vicious assault, which left myself and the rest of my group feeling pretty uncomfortable being in the place. Struggle to find any reason to recommend it.

22 Jul 2012 by talarsb

Pretty average. Quite good if you want to start early, as they are open from 5pm. The coffee shop is quite good though! I'd defiantly review that if I could?

03 Jul 2012 by rach_smo

Really unique venue great for special occasions, went for my birthday and had an amazing time, the staff were so helpful and made the night fantastic. Drinks prices were very reasonable considering the location! Have been back a fair few times since and would highly recommend!

What a amazing night we had, it was so fun- we booked a table for me and about 13 of my girlfriends- we got a good deal and started drinking early! Our area was so nice and the staff were really friendly- I loved the Nior room, its so fun and sexy.. really good friday night out hahaha and for all the single ladies, the boys that go there are hot hahahaha! def come back

07 Feb 2012 by pleasureceres

The staff is just horrible. I've been insulted by a waitress with absolutely no reason, just because she was having a raw at my friend and I told him to ignore her. And then, trying to complain to her manager, she started yelling at me too before I had a chance to even explain what happened. Only then she apologized...

You'd think it's classy but it's not somewhere you can let your hair down and relax. Definitely a place for loud students

NOT A PLACE FOR YOUR PARTY!!!!! I booked a table to celebrate my birthday in the Clinic at the Piccadilly Institute well in advance to make sure I get a good table. However, I was told that their policy is to move people around at the last minute to suit their own needs, not ours! The Institute has 6 rooms and I didn’t want to risk to end up in the corner next to the toilets having in mind I have booked two weeks in advance. I was furious how unhelpful and not understanding the booking team is giving silly excuses with their retarded policy! Now, the policy is written to suit their own needs to get as much profit as they can and certainly not thinking about the needs of the customer! A good Manager in hospitality knows that this type of policy will only fail the business in the long run. However, Manager without a degree and without the slightest idea of customer service is capable to place such retarded policy! I am writing this review to protect you of having your party ruined in the way it happened to me! Oh, the follow up of the story is that I have found a good bar with no booking charge, no entry fee and a happy hour and look forward to my birthday now. It is a happy ending for me! :))) Mirena
