My experience of going to Bar Rumba and being refused entry *comment moderated* is described in the email below for which I have yet to receive a response from Bar Rumba. Email dated 2 August 2015 To whom it may concern without prejudice You will see from the booking confirmation below that I was confirmed on the guest list for Bar Rumba last night Saturday 1 August. I arrived on my own around 10.30 pm and took my turn in the queue on the guest list side. When I was a the front of queue I gave my name to a black doorman who then asked for my ID. I provided my drivers licence. He took it and went inside, where he exchanged some words with a white man at the front counter/till. He then came back to me to say that I could not come in because the guest list policy excluded single persons so I had to be with someone, implying a female. I was confused but did want to make a fuss because I was just looking to come into the club and have a good night so I said that I was happy to pay. I was then told in no uncertain terms that I could not come in. At this point I was even more shocked and confused and walked away livid but in control of my emotions. But after walking up the road for no more than 50 metres I had to turn back and return to Bar Rumba. I then approached the same doorman who I asked what was going on. I said there was no such policy about exclusion of single persons (whatever their colour, gender etc) when booking for the guest list. Further that single and groups of white guys had been admitted while I had been waiting on the queue. They were not dressed as smart as I was, but I happened to be black and they white. Clearly, if it was known that such a discriminatory practice was publicised how would Bar Rumba explain themselves. Even the doorman felt offended that I had not been allowed admission by the decision of the white man inside. For such a blatant act of unlawful discrimination, injustice and indignity Bar Rumba needs to make amends if it values decency, respect, opposes discrimination in whatever form. I await your early response before I consider what my next steps should be. My experience of going to bar rumba was pretty good actually. They have really great deals on drinks, a good party atmosphere after 10:30 and I really loved the music they played. Good night out

Bar rumba was interesting. We prepaid 2 4 1 wristbands, but they didnt put us on the list. Not a good start. We then walk in to the smell of vomit this was 11pm on the dot. The bar staff where not aware of the 2 4 1 wristband n we had to argue to get our drinks.

Privately hired Bar Rumba for the night, it exceeded expectations! Was a great atmosphere, attributed to a mix of the DJs playlist and friendly staff. Will definitely be returning for a night out. Thanks!

We had a great night out here. It was easy to organise a booth in advance with the events team. Warm and organised reception on the door. Music, atmosphere and staff were all excellent. We would certainly go there again.

We arrived at Bar Rumba at our expected arrival time of 11pm, as already pre arranged with them online. However myself and my friend were refused entry. Presumably as we would have been getting in free of charge, and there was a long line of punters that they were probably charging a tenner. Door staff were extremely rude. durnin26 visited Bar Rumba on 03 Oct 2015

Not really a great deal I can say about our night in Bar Rumba as we didn't even get past the door! I booked a booth for a group of 10 guys celebrating a friends stag do. Upon arrival at the club, we were asked to "step to one side" by a short guy with dark hair, who I assume was the manager. This small guy was on a big power trip! As it was 10 blokes, he said he was concerned that we'd cause trouble in the club. I explained this wouldn't be a problem, but after 5 minutes of interrogation, he refused entry anyway! I understand this can happen in some clubs in London, but I'd booked this club and given the names of all the guests two weeks previously. So my grievance with Mr. Small Man Syndrome is, if they have such an issue with a large group of guys coming in, why did they accept my reservation in the first place?! All the names on the list were clearly male names, so they had a full two weeks to say they weren't comfortable with us spending our night there. This club is a joke... Avoid at all costs!!! liamg28 visited Bar Rumba on 26 Sep 2015

Booked tickets online and got the £5 VIP weekend wristband, unfortunately you do have to que still (was,n't for too long though) the wristband came with the offer of 2 - 4 - 1 on most of the drinks (basically buy 1 get one free) saved quite a bit of money there! I've read lots of complaints about the attitude of the door staff, really these guys have got a big job to do controlling alot of people etc and trust me if they started acting all soft they would have no chance, (show a bit of common sence and respect and you will get the same in return). music was kicking man! sound system was booming! recommended if want a good time with lots of hot birds. A really seedy place. The manager should be out of a job to be honest. I turned up with a group of 10 on Saturday for my gf's 21st birthday. We got in for free which was good and the music was good. The night however was ruined due to the fact the bouncer *comment moderated* (6 coats) and then told us we had to put them in the cloak room (which we didnt)- however there was no where saying that coats couldn't left in booths and that the only way we was going to get them back was via giving him £12 in cash. I argued the point with him at which point he screamed 'give me money now or get out of the club without your coats'. He dropped his £12 asking price and took £5 *comment moderated*. I then went to Bruno the manager to talk about getting our money back or him showing me somewhere a sign saying that there is a rule saying no coats should be left in the booth and should be put in the coat room. He couldn't give me an answer or his name, instead he called me rude for questioning him and threw me out of the club. All I can say is DONT GO TO THIS CLUB- you will appreciate this advice later- there is 0 customer service and *comment moderated*!

Horrible. Booked 4 people then turned up only to be turned away by the manager. On my confirmation email it says free before 12pm but at the door they say 11pm, make your minds up and stop trying to rip people off. Called manager only to be told some rubbish about he's been clubbing all over the world etc. I'll leave Bar Rumba to random drunk stragglers and go elsewhere next time.

It was my brother in-laws birthday so my partner organised for 9 of us including four girls to have a night out at bar rumba. My partner organised it a week in advance and spoke to the manager on several occasions including on the same day we were attending regarding dress code, guest list, times etc. Our group arrived at bar rumba just before 11pm as the manager BRUNO COSTA explained it was free entry before 11pm. As we waited in-line for about 4mins the secruity guard pulled our group to the side and explained "we are not getting into bar rumba tonight as the manager has refused us and is watching from the camera's". There was no explanation to the reason why as we were all dressed suitable and acting in a well manner, My partner asked to speak to the manager and was repeatedly told "he is watching and he said NO". I then tried to call the manager on the same number my partner spoke to him throughout the week on but he would not answer. Thanks to the manager it was a wasted trip to central London

Fantastic venue for a fun night of drinking and comedy with friends. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, the drinks are reasonably well priced (for Leicester Square) and the small personal stage is great for engaging the audience. If your looking for a "classy" night then this is not it - if you want a top class night, this is a must!

Pretty good deal when booked through Design My Night but make sure you get there for happy hour (before 10:30 ... or 11 depending on which bar tender you talked to....) and use your free shot vouchers as soon as possible as we saved one for later but the rules magically changed saying that its only a free shot if you buy it with something else..... could be a good place to start a night off get a few drinks (bottle of wine is only £10) then go somewhere else.

I took my sister here for the last part of her Hen Party celebrations on Saturday 13th Feb 2016. We had paid for the "FIT" hen package which was £19. 95 per person which gave us entry, a table, 2 drinks and 1 shot each. I thought this was a great price but then we were surprised with a GIANT martini glass full of a delicious fruity cocktail! This wasn't included in the package we had paid for so it was an excellent surprise! We ended up not needing to buy any drinks all night after we had used our drinks tokens! The music was chart/older chart (from when we were teenagers!) and we loved almost every song that was played! We had some space next to our booth for dancing so we didn't need to go on the dancefloor (which was pretty packed). The man (who looked like a manager) was helpful at the entrance to get someone to walk us to our booth and the bar staff I spoke to were very friendly, None of us had ever been to Bar Rumba before but I will definitely be going back! The DJ even did a shout out for my sister and I know a lot of places that refuse to do this. Loved it! Lisa visited Bar Rumba on 13 Feb 2016

Another great night in Bar Rumba on Saturday. The experience was partly spoiled by having to queue for 30 minutes to leave coats and 30 minutes to get them back again. There must be a way of improving your system. I was about 10th in the queue and it took 30 minutes. What was going on? barrumbaneedsfastercoatservice visited Bar Rumba on 27 Feb 2016

We attended Bar Rumba as part of my sister’s hen party following the comedy carnival. We had booked a table for 10pm which wasn’t ready on time because of the comedy club. We had also paid £20 for hen party decorations and party packs which ended up being a hen party banner and a couple of party poppers and badges - not worth £20 at all so the staff agreed to provide an additional drinks package to what we had already paid for. There was also confusion over what was included in the drinks package. However, that aside music was good and the atmosphere was friendly so overall a good night. anon visited Bar Rumba on 12 Mar 2016

I was excited to go to Bar Rumba as it was my first visit. It was very easy to make a booking and the girl who helped me (Morgane) was very nice and helpful. On the night, however, the service was horrible. We waited in line and were asked at least 5 times whether we had booked (clearly werent really listening!) They let 4 of us through and 2 of my friends still stayed in line as they let another group go in front of them. We were waiting for the other 2 to get in from who they asked again whether they have booked! I mentioned their system is pretty poor as felt very chaotic to which one of the staff answered me back: Do you want to get in? I said obviously, as I paid for the table etc. He just replied well everyone paid. That quite upset me and didnt think he was very professional but was hoping itll be better once we get to our table/area. A host showed us to the table where she asked for the rest of the deposit. She asked me for more money than I was told, when I said this was not the deal I was offered she rolled her eyes, left and came back saying I was right. The music was good so we tried to enjoy our night despite the horrendous service we received. Me and my friends will definitely NOT be going back as there are a lot of great places in London that would not treat their customers like this! Go spend your money somewhere else :)

The booking part was fine. The office person was lovely and I booked a hen party requesting the package deal called "HOT" - it included a shot, 3 drinks per person, free entry, and a massive martini style drink to share. On arrival we didn't queue and they allowed us straight in. However, instead of the drinks we were meant to receive, instead we were presented with a bottle of vodka and 2 bottles of prosecco for the table. No explanation was given as to why our drinks package had changed. I also do not think that these three bottles are comparable in value to the original deal - there was no giant martini drink (which we wanted for the hen - as a novelty) and not everyone in our party drinks vodka! Plus we were a large group and that isn't much to share between so many girls. But ok. We figured we would make the best of it. The night continued and we were having a laugh, dancing on the dance floor. However as we were walking back to our table, a bouncer told my friend and I that we "pushed a bouncer" and must leave! WTF! We obviously did no such thing and as such, were very confused. The bouncers made us stand outside to "sober up" - we were hardly drunk- we had just arrived! - and separated us from our party for ages. We were gone so long that finally the hen had to come outside and plead with them to let us back in. Another girl from our group later went out for some air - and they refused to let her back in! For no discernible reason. She had paid £30 for the package deal and the night was still young. What a waste. I was furious. I understand that the bouncers job is not easy - dealing with drunk belligerent people all night - but I really think that the management needs to sort this out. They seem to just be abusing their moderate amount of authority by arbitrarily choosing guests to accuse of made-up charges. I would suggest avoiding this place. You could pay £30 for a fun night and then be kicked out for no reason! Take your money elsewhere. Shame because it could have been a really great night.

The whole reservation process from beginning to end was amazing. On the night, we found all your staff to be very courteous and patient. All 30 of us had an amazing time and I’ve already been asked by a few to organise another outing soon. I’ll sure be having more parties with you. 3am seems to have come around way too soon. Thank you very much for the amazing Sunday Easter evening of fun.

Terrible service, false advertising - there was no happy hour apparently between 10 and 11pm. Went on Easter Monday and the manager didn't even know about the deals being promoted on the designmynight website, resulting in no free cocktail as advertised if you bought a ticket online.

The music in this club is commercial, which is fine and gets everybody moving. The only horrible thing I can come up with is that as I got into the club at ten pm on Saturday, they were still cleaning the floors from the event before and it was stinking sooo soo bad .... then when the floor had dried and the stank disappeared people started dancing. it was truly horrible smell which put a lot of people off at first from the dancefloor.... besides that the night was actually fun if you want to dance and hook up with some random horny guys, theres a lot of them there kyllus visited Bar Rumba on 13 Feb 2016

Unfortunately, every time you do asking for customers feedback, but you are not doing anything with it. I think is much better to stop asking people for feedback if you cannot improve your services. I am a Bar Rumba regular customer, I been coming to Bar Rumba for years and I complained about this issue several times, but no one bother to take this forward. My complain is about the same issue I had before, which is with the manger (Bruno). *comment moderated* again he did the same thing with me and with my friends. I have to explain to him that I made a complain about him and spoke to (Raza) from Bar Rumba which she’s an amazing person. She apologised about his behaviour and she offered me a free table last Saturday 05/12/2015. So, because (Raza) and because I have the table, he let me in on that day. When I went again on Saturday 12/12/2015, he refused and I have showed him the guest list I mad. Again, explained to him that I’m a regular customer and never caused any problems, even the bouncers said that to him. munirz12 visited Bar Rumba on 12 Dec 2015

Unfortunately, he rejected this and my booking online as well. He told me that he cannot let me in without booking a table, but I told him that I don’t need to book a table if we are not a big group. Also, while I was in the queue, he let bunch of white guys in without anything. Eventually, he told me that he will let me in this time and I have to pay £10 for enter even if I’m in the guest list. I will never go to Bar Rumba again if you do have this king of manager, this is a club and we supposed to go to have a good time. I always go to Piccadilly Institute, Zoo bar, Ruby Blue and Café De Paris. I never ever experience like that before and all the clubs welcome to come and happy to see me, except Bar Rumba. munirz12 visited Bar Rumba on 12 Dec 2015

Disgusting. Myself and my two friends (3 black males smartly dressed) entered the queue behind the 3 Caucasian gentlemen. After the boys in front were let in, the bouncer told the 3 of us to step aside and apologised saying no one can come in without a reservation. I said that's fine we've made a reservation and offered him my name and booking number. Without even looking the bouncer said you guys can't get in without a female. We pointed his attention to the 3 men that entered before us with no trouble. His reply "sorry I don't make the rules" To avoid conflict and unnecessary arguing; we left in bitter disappointment! to "BE AT ONE", *comment moderated*. Thank you for a wasted evening I would not recommend this establishment to anyone! nor will I return! notserioused visited Bar Rumba on 04 Dec 2015

Made a "reservation" for one. After effort and $ to get there at my apponited time, was informed their policy is not to admit unless in a group of 2 or more. I have no opinion about their policy, i DO have an opinion that the booking web site and the Club SHOULD be on the same page with this. Big waster of time & hastle. I took my smiling and big tipping self to a nearby club and had a marvelous time. Wasn't my loss but please fix this obvioul, and recurring, problem. Cheers, Patrick visited Bar Rumba on 05 Nov 2015

Bar Rumba is a club I always come back to! They play nice music so you can dance and sing along. One of my fave places for a Friday night out in London! Had a really good time on Halloween!! ashaziem visited Bar Rumba on 31 Oct 2015
