I've been to Tooting to pick up tupperware, i've been to Tooting for a quickie in the pub, i've fallen over in Tooting and i've driven through Tooting, but I've never actually been to Tooting for a cocktail; thanks to a night of far-flung drinks at Imperial Durbar, i'm wondering what took so bloody long…
The Imperial Durbar
A homely coffee shop by day and lively cocktail bar by night; The Imperial Durbar offers a tantalising taste of India to the people of Tooting Bec. Located within touching distance of the tube station, the venue is great for tasty cakes, coffees, beers and cocktails in equal proportion.
As the name suggests, you can expect more than the occasional nod to Imperial India, with both the cuisine and decor inspired by the jewel in the British Empire's crown. The venue carries a 14-strong cocktail list, as well as an array of locally made baked goods and Indian dishes.
Perfect for stopping by for a coffee while the sun is up and a couple of cocktails with a twist when it is down; The Imperial Durbar provides yet more evidence that Tooting is quickly becoming the place to be in South London.
