Powder Keg Diplomacy - London Restaurant Bar Reviews

Some people dare tread the space between Clapham Junction and Battersea, and some people barely know it's there, but if there's any reason to extend a short stroll up to St John's Hill, it's for this eclectic eatery. Here's how we got on when we got...

Food was very average sadly - tepid warm. And the service was not on point - too many check ins with us and not quick enough delivery. visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 21 Sep 2017

a marvellous night! I had organised a meal and drinks for my pal's stag do, and the staff were so helpful and friendly; the food was superb, it was a beautiful venue. Today, i am getting emails from all the other stags saying how much they enjoyed it. Highly recommended. visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 09 Sep 2017

Was ok. Table was squashed between two very large & loud tables (we were only2). Difficult to get in& out. The Asti wasn't very nice but replaced instantly and service was very very good. Food was ok, bread nice, mains a little salty - & my husband would've liked more mash than just a smere. Overall ok, but probably wouldn't return. visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 09 Sep 2017

Great atmosphere, beautiful decor, fun live music in the bar area which was separated from the restaurant so that one could hear himself (much appreciated), amazing food (best gravy I've ever had!) and nice service. Definitely worth a visit!! visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 27 Aug 2017

I have to be perfectly honest. I was here a couple of years ago and I think something has changed and it's lost something. I took my girlfriend and her family for meal out having raved about my previous visit and sadly it didn't deliver this time. The food was just ok. The service was great so can't fault that. Things are not quite as polished as I remember. visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 17 Aug 2017

Went for Sunday lunch. Have to choose from a set menu which involves 2 courses for £24. Obviously this works out as being the most expensive roast in South West London so we had high hopes! When the chicken roast was delivered to the table, they told us that they didn't have any Yorkshire puddings - however we weren't offered anything else to substitute. We were served a plate of cabbage, chopped leeks, a chicken leg and 2 potatoes for £18 (dividing out the assumed cost of the dessert at £6)!! I admire them for their ballsy mark up if nothing else. visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 30 Jul 2017

My wife and I very much enjoyed our evening at PKD. We had booked a table for 7:30 and were a little stressed that we were running late (off the beaten track from central London). However we needn't have worried because the restaurant was fairly quiet. The food was very good - very well cooked and full of flavour (fairly reasonably priced for a smart 3 course dinner). Tried some of the cocktails - a little unsure which ones to choose at first (not regular cocktail drinkers) but the staff helped with very good selections. Liked the decor - drinks served in cut glass etc. Staff were very friendly and took time to explain the menu. Would recommend the restaurant for food and drink and if we were in the area would definitely like to go again - next time would choose a slightly busier day/time, Sunday evening was a little too quiet. visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 23 Jul 2017

Really nice in here. Drinks were lovely, as were the staff. The décor is really cool and something slightly different too. It's a good place both for dates but also for catching up with friends

Loved it however, the wines needed to be stocked up. Didn't have Pinot Gris, then ran out of our alternative, twice. The drinks waiters weren't all that, brought wrong bottle of red (Malbec instead of merlot) and 2 rum old fashions (yummy) but one much shorter than the other so sent back. However we had a fantastic time. Plates should have been cleared quicker too but we had a great time and will be back again. Food was great and the atmosphere perfect. The staff were lovely, just a few technical issues. I will be recommending to friends ... visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 30 Jun 2017

Initial disappointed the menu had changed over a 3 day period, but wow were the restaurant accomodating. They rustled up a complete new starter off the menu which was delicious. As usual the rest of the food was great, the atmosphere lovely and the service thoughtful and considerate. visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 01 Jun 2017

Decent gastro pub with hints of Victoriana but not as quirky as it seems on the website. We (3 women) all had different cocktails and they were all REALLY GOOD. Also had dinner - no complaints, great chips, nice wine, attentive service. visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 25 May 2017

Very cute place and good service but the food was not that great. Its pretty cheap but my still, there is no excuse for using so much vinegar when poaching your eggs that it lands up being the only thing a consumer can taste. The crumb bits on the asparagus were hard an inedible. The triple cooked chips tasting very odd indeed, if I was not in a large group, I would have sent these things back. Cocktails were just ok which I thought they were renowned for. Overall, not great Tanya visited Powder Keg Diplomacy on 19 May 2017

I absolutely couldn't love this restaurant more. Not only one of the best takes on a sour i've ever had but a really honest and British menu. God, that greenhouse restaurant was stunning.

Such a great place to be - excellent beverages and food menu and an absolutely impecable staff team. Cocktails and craft beer over there were delicious! It`s a pity I was in London only for a few days, otherwise would definitely become a regular. Really recommend it! http://powderkegdiplomacy.co.uk/

A fantastic addition to the recent surge in St Johns Hill new bar/restaurant openings. This is a truely elegant and special bar and I loved every thing about it, very well considered decor with antiques and colonial touches, fantastic cocktails and red wine list and an atmosphere that is incomparable in London.
