What they say:

If you feel like cocktail bars are a bit too stuffy nowadays with all the “molecular mixology” and “having to wear nice shoes” and other unreasonable demands, you’re not alone. The newest cocktail bar in Bethnal Green has opened and they want you to treat this like you’re very own mate's hangout, with relaxed wooden panelling and cool lanterns framing a space designed to sit, lounge and/or chat. Think low hanging furniture as well as bar stools so you can have #banter with the lads behind the bar – Simon Thompson and Jack O’Brien, who you may recognise from the world renowned bar Callooh Callay. And they’ll be keeping it real with an eclectic, upbeat soundtrack to boot.

What we say:

With that kind of pedigree behind the bar, the cocktails aren’t likely to disappoint. They’ve launched at a flat rate of £9, which is very reasonable for London, and gives you wonderful mixes like the Dirty Faces, which comes with Fords Gin, beeswax calvados, apricot and verjus, or the Lips, which is made from… electrocuted Ribena. Right. If cocktails aren’t your thing, they have a wine list curated by War on Terroir supposedly showcasing the finest in Supermarket wine (did I mention this is in East London?) and a selection of beer, with their most affordable called ‘Generic Lager’. That’ll stick it to JD Whetherspoon.
