The Challengers:

Crafty - St Martins

After a successful ‘pop-up’ period in St Martin’s Coffee Shop, Crafty is now a permanent fixture from Thursday – Saturday nights at the popular city centre cafe. Now firmly established as one of Leicester’s best independent restaurants, Crafty is going from strength to strength. Their loyal following love the time and effort that goes in to each juicy burger; from the homemade pickles, the locally baked buns to the dry aged steak minced each day on site. Every bite of one of Crafty’s burgers is orgasmic (according to one fan!)

Burger: "The Crafty Porker”

28 Day Dry Aged Beef Patty topped with a Croquette made from Boston Butt, Braeburn Apple & Steamin’ Billy Beer Mustard, Roasted Tomato and Smoked Chilli Catsup, Chicharron Salt, Red Leicester Cheese, Home Pickled Cucumber & Red Onion and Crafty sauce. All in a 'Milner’s of Blaby' Bun

The Paget - Burgers & Brews

The Paget is situated in the heart of Loughborough just outside of the town centre. It underwent a full refurbishment 12 months ago and they enlisted a top street food consultant to overhaul the menu which now consists of home minced & hand crafted burgers. Their burgers are freshly made to their own recipe of top beef cuts which gained them a great reputation in Leicestershire and sky-rocketed them to the top spot of Trip Advisor for a hefty 5 months.

Burger: "The Paget Q"

28 Day Dry Aged Limousin Beef Patty, BBQ Pulled Pork, Candied Smoked Bacon, Crispy Onion Ring, Paget Relish, Swiss Cheese, Homemade Sailor Jerry BBQ Sauce and a touch of Sriracha. All in a Brioche Bun

First off, we really enjoyed the burgers, from both Crafty and The Paget. The teams put a lot of effort in and it showed. So well done to you all! The music was good and helped provide a great atmosphere, thanks guys! Sadly, I was a little disappointed in that the free drinks only consisted of beer or energy drinks. I drink neither so had to purchase a drink when in reality I'd already paid for one! No biggy I guess. I would suggest that the organisers have a way of getting people to line up at certain times rather than joining a queue to find that you're told to come back as there are no burgers ready. Other than that, great evening, although I couldn't finish both burgers!!

Hi Lucy. Thank you for attending our event and submitting a review. We're really glad you enjoyed the burgers!. With regards to the free drinks - you did not pay for this as its not part of the ticket price - it is offered for free by our sponsors. We're bound by who sponsors the event and what drinks they offer for free amnd unfortunately it does happene that they are not to anyones taste. With regards to the queues, we have thought about times in the past but unfortunately this doesnt work as some poeple like to have a break and others want both their burgers straight away, in addition we have already taken steps to completely reorganise the outside area so next time there will be no congestion. We should be back again before the end of the year and we hope to see you!!!!
