Thirst Media presents tours of the Rothley Wine Estate 'Kingfisher's Pool' vineyard. Tour and tasting takes 90 minutes and you can choose to purchase a ticket for the 12pm, 1.30pm or 3pm slot.

Your ticket buys you a tour of the vineyard and winery with Rothley Wine's vintner, Liz Robson. Enjoy the rows of neatly pruned vines with the cheery sound of the Great Central Railway ringing out in the distance. Try and spot the namesake kingfishers down by the ancient pool. You will learn all about growing grapes and making wine in the heart of the English countryside, direct from the expert.

After the tour, we will make ourselves comfortable in the newly built conservatory for a guided tasting from local food and wine writer and director of Thirst Media, Laura Hadland. Enjoy a selection of delicious Rothley Wine Estate products in an idyllic setting. Wine is available for purchase if you wish to take a bottle or two home (cash only please).

Accompanied children are welcome to join the tour, but we're afraid tastings are strictly for over 18s, so you may wish to consider if little ones might get bored while you enjoy the tasting! There is plenty of outdoor space around the tasting room where you can supervise if you want to bring them a ball or other game to keep them occupied.

Well behaved dogs on leads are also welcome, but please let us know in advance so we can confine the vineyard hens to their run!

Tours will go ahead in inclement weather, unless the heavens really open! However, the vineyard is a rural space so please wear appropriate footwear regardless. There is level wheelchair access to both the vineyard and tasting room, although some areas of the vineyard may be more difficult to negotiate by wheelchair users. The tour will be adapted to take this into account so that nobody misses out on any of the detail. Car parking is available on site in the side paddock, accessible from Westfield Lane. Please look out for roadside signage on the day.

Rothley Wine Estate is a tiny, artisanal vineyard, which leads to a very personal service. We were shown around by the owner, who is obviously passionate about her vines and the wine making process. We then enjoyed a guided wine tastng with Laura from Thirst Media, who was informative and encouraging. It was really exciting to taste (& then buy direct) the fantastic pink sparkling wine (Spirit of Freedom,) which is deliciously dry & bubbly & also the brand new, nowhere near ready, King Richard red wine, which we have put away for 2 years to mature. An enjoyable tour and lovely to see that English wines are making a mark! Visited Rothley Wine Estate on 2017-09-09

Made very welcome on our arrival. Beautiful location, a relaxed, informative talk on the tour about the various grapes and their history from Liz This continued at the tasting with Laura. who introduced us to some great wines. Visited Rothley Wine Estate on 2017-09-09

Fabulous place right on our doorstep! The tour was so interesting and the wine tasting superb, what could be nicer than sitting outside on a sunny day drinking delicious wine! Both Liz and Laura made the experience interesting and fun, I would highly recommend

Thoroughly enjoyed the vineyard tour and tasting. Liz and Lauren very welcoming and knowledgeable, and the wine was delicious! Would recommend to anyone over 18 who enjoys wine. Visited Rothley Wine Estate on 2017-07-29

It was really good. Liz gave a thorough vineyard tour and educated us about the grapes grown & why; the hens & why they're important; and a little local history. Then Laura did the wine tasting in a knowledgeable and un-patronising manner. Not all wines were to my taste but the King Richard III 2016 certainly was. The blush fizz was also very nice, considering I'm not a fan of fizz. One demerit: it was lovely and sunny at 28oC but no shade - they need to invest in a simple 6x3m marquee - but I'm certainly NOT complaining. Highly recommended.
