I had attended this event last year and loved it so much we bought tickets again. Myself and my husband brought my 22yr old Son and unfortunately he wasnt allowed access as he had no photographic evidence. *I did bring my sons birth certificate. Also my son had his driving licence stolen the day before. My son does not look under age and had a beard! But the staff at the door were not sympathetic in the slightest. We ended up selling 2 tickets to two lovely girls who had no tickets so that was the plus side. My husband went in for a short time while my son and i walked into the nearest pub to have a drink and wait on my husband. I feel we should have been allowed to speak to management but more so the stewards at the door could clearly see he wasnt a 16yr old ! The venue is excellent and i do recommend it. Other point is dress no jogging trousers allowed as one tourist was also turned away (he was from Australia.) I felt at this time of year this could have been overlooked). Arrived by 10pm, wasn't clear if buffet was included in the price but it was. Plenty of junk food (crisps, small club sandwiches, nothing really fancy) and the queues to get to it... omg. Yet the bar is amazing just by its size and its labyrinth-like conception. It's definitely a must go to in Glasgow. It was really hard to find a place when we could stand and hear each other (and impossible to sit) as it was really crowded so I'd definitely recommend to get there early. Aside from that, it was really nice ! Rock music all the way. Isalyne visited Waxy O'Connor's Glasgow on 31 Dec 2016

Another gr8 Hogmanay night at Waxys, this is the second year my husband and myself and 2 friends have attended this event! I have to say the only really disappointing things for us were the lack of choice for your free drink included with your ticket compared to 2015/16 ended up out of our company only one person was able to take advantage of this as he drank tenants lager!! The other disappointment was lack of organisation when buffet was being served and also lack of choice as well!!! Apart from this we had a really good night roll on next year and hopefully my comments will be taken on board! Pamela visited Waxy O'Connor's Glasgow on 31 Dec 2016

I think Waxy's is probably a good night out normally, but on New Years Eve our party of 6 did not. The venue, decor, staff, music and food were all great but they'd decided to get as many people in as possible so it was cramped standing room only and took forever to get a drink. We stayed for an hour before leaving to find an alternative to celebrate New Years. Felt that we wasted £60 on tickets as we walked straight into a free venue around the corner with entertainment that wasn't over crowded. Rob visited Waxy O'Connor's Glasgow on 31 Dec 2016

Security gaurd on front door has a serious ego and attitude problem. I was rudely refused re entry minutes after the bells when I met a friend outside to let him in using the PDF ticket which was saved on my phone, despite security admitting they'd seen me leave and that it was their responsibility to stamp us on entry and none of my party received one! After presenting a completely valid case he stood with his head down texting on his phone in complete ignorance towards me before becoming threatening after reasonibly beong asked to put his phone away and respond to me. Minutes before I'do watched him violently remove a man from the lower floor, grabbing him by the face and backing him into a wall screaming he was going to "rip his f*cking head off"...hardly a professional - on top of the pathetic "security" the place was badly overcrowded with too few and very busy bar staff meaning about a 15 - 20 minute wait each time, resulting in 2 drinks in the 90 minutes I was there.. A great venue which I've drank in for years and a potentially great night totally wasted. Ryan visited Waxy O'Connor's Glasgow on 31 Dec 2016

Great night, very unusual venue with all the stairs and lots of little nooks and crannies but it was brilliant. Loved that it was a rock music night and the air guitar competition was so much fun. Linda visited Waxy O'Connor's Glasgow on 31 Dec 2016

Another great night at Waxy's. Couldn't fault a single thing. From the atmosphere, service at the bar, staff and food to the music - it was all amazing. Excellent value for money. lynda visited Waxy O'Connor's Glasgow on 31 Dec 2016

Fantastic night. The bar has real character with its layout. The music was good and, although busy, there wasn't the normal NYE overcrowding. Everyone in our group had an enjoyable night Jeffrey visited Waxy O'Connor's Glasgow on 31 Dec 2016

Tickets good value for money. Drinks on arrival a great idea but only offered a choice of 2 things - crabbies or tennants. Our party arrived at 10pm so we weren't expecting to get a table with seats but even finding somewhere to stand was initially a problem. Eventually managed to crowd 6 of us round a small circular table designed for 2. The bar staff were very good but could've been doing with more of them. Again, not expecting to be served quickly every time but always being 3 deep at the bar gets a bit tedious. The music was excellent, exactly as described. Tom Russell was on great form. Would book again, but would get in earlier in the evening. Katy visited Waxy O'Connor's Glasgow on 31 Dec 2016
