The Oyster Bar @ Rogano

Description

The seafood isn't the only aphrodisiac at The Oyster Bar @ Rogano, one of the most lavish restaurant bars in Glasgow. Dimly lit, with old-timey gramophone music piping through, this little hideaway makes for a amorous date location. It's equally ideal for a group of pals to gather for a hushed gaggle, or long-awaited catch-up. An iconic Merchant City venue, Rogano's Seafood restaurant has been channeling art deco glamour, since art deco was fashionable the first time around. Its long marble bar, deep leather booths and retro decor were modelled on the Queen Mary ship, which was being built in Glasgow when Rogano first opened its doors.

Almost 80 years later and Glasgow's oldest seafood restaurant is still going strong, with a dapper clientele that has, over the years, included Winston Churchill, Mick Jagger and Helena Christensen. Rockstars and supermodels aside, mere mortals are lured in by the ubiquitous oyster plates, mussels and prawns as well as the plush atmosphere and exquisite cocktails. Fridays are particularly popular with the ladies, as after workers pile in for well-deserved, after work bubbly. Hey, if it's good enough for Elizabeth Taylor, it's good enough for us.
