2017 sees our experiences expand into 3 new sites in Cambridgeshire, Essex and Kent, on top of the regular Sussex site for a range of immersive guidings, offering a deeply wondrous, romantic and potent experience like no other.

Join folk singer Sam Lee and other celebrated musicians for a very intimate journey deep into the Springtime Southern English forests to experience the rare and intoxicating song of the Nightingale, be regaled with songs, stories, folklore and ornithological wisdom on this magical bird. Included in the evening will be a gourmet, organic backwoods feast round an open fire and music from some extremely special guest artists.

A meditative trek into the mud and moonlight and a communion with nature, Lee’s performances are also designed to extol mindful presence and the power of deep listening

Guardian

For a few short weeks from mid April onwards a few thousand Nightingales annually fly to the southern UK from the Central African forests and can be heard, in a just few special locations, taking up sonorous residence after dusk. The male birds territoriality serenade about the scrubs and field margins with their magnificent and highly venerated song. Folk singer, song collector and nature lover Sam Lee has built a reputation of celebrating this ‘very African bird’ with his annual sell out excursions. You are invited not just to listen to these birds in ear tingling close proximity but to share an evening around the fire delving into Sam’s own fund of rare songs and stories. Every night features not only our Ornithological expert Tom Stuart but also some very special guest musicians. Together the group walks in silence and in darkness into the nightingale’s habitat to not just listen to these majestic birds but to share in an improvised collaboration.
