Sunday roast - was nicely cooked with good mixture of vegetables. However, the portion of meat was miserly with a small cube (1 inch) of belly pork and one very thin slice of beef - I would have been embarrassed to serve that to a paying customer. You shouldn’t have to pay extra for Yorkshire pudding - it is normally part of the roast dinner and at 40p extra, this is silly! Quirky venue which was interesting and unique. We had to ask twice for the condiments but when it came to the dessert and wanted to wait a little while, 4 separate waitresses asked for our dessert orders! Unfortunately the experience was a bit of a let down. The venison was tough and I have had better shepherds pies there in the past. We also ordered desserts and coffee, the coffee came immediately however we gave up on the desserts after being told three times it was on the way but after 45 minutes of waiting we gave up. The surroundings were lovely. The menu offered a good range of food. WItresses were helpful but not very well informed re gluten free choices( I am coeliac). My steak was chewy and more well done than medium. As my friend was treating me to this meal I did nt complain during the meal. I did mention to the waitress afterwards. The chips were disappointing for an establishment like this- they looked like frozen chips !.I found it overpriced for the quality of the food served. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2018-01-12

I had the lamb shank which was lovely but there could have been more potatoes and vegetables with it. I was left feeling a little hungry given portion size and needed to have a sweet to fill me up. My partner had the chicken and beef combination and was disappointed with the quality of the meat. He was also disappointed that he had not yorkshire pudding or stuffing with his meal. Apparently you don't get these if you have combination which seems a little strange. Overall, a little better than average. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2018-01-07

We have come to the Lion & Lobster for the last 3 years and generally had a good time, but unfortunately each year the standard of food has dropped slightly. Some of the meals very good, but some were just average or not very good at all (The Cauliflower Fritters were incredibly disappointing and some of the portion sizes were not as generous as others) We very much enjoy the atmosphere at the Lion & Lobster and the staff and the organisation of food ordering is fantastic. Due to us booking late we were told we were unable to get one of your rooms with one table so were split over 5 small tables (Tables of three do not really work for Christmas parties!). This was a real shame as we noticed that the room next door where we have sat previously was empty for the whole time we were there and we could have easily used that one and been sat on one table. On a whole, we had a good time, but the above points just put a little bit of a dampener on the afternoon. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-12-21

The best fish and chips I've had in Brighton. Chips that taste of potatoes and a wonderfully lightly battered ( large) haddock- more fish than batter. Tasty and good value for money. A lovely pub-restaurant setting upstairs. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2018-01-06

Beyond dreadful. Booked lunch for 26th. Pre paid a deposit and pre ordered a good 10 days prior. It took just under 90 minutes for the main to arrive and when it did, it was very poor quality. Undercooked in places, over cooked in others. Your staff were stretched to limit, no apolgies, no checking to see if we were ok, no asking if we wanted drinks. We left halfway through and didn't even have our desserts. You should be ashamed of treating people like this on Boxing Day. We have always enjoyed our previous visits to the L&L. Both the food and the service have been excellent. However, our Boxing Day evening experience was not up to previous visits. Although the restaurant was far from full (as far as we could see), the service can best be described as "leisurely", although, as usual, everyone was very pleasant. The choice of fish was limited (no sole? no plaice? - in Brighton???)), although the hake was nice enough. One of the wines we initially ordered was not available, and.quelle chagrin, the nougat dessert was also unavailable. We shall be back, of course, but compared with our previous visits, this one was definitely a little disappointing. However, we wish everyone concerned with the L&L a very happy and successful New Year. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-12-26

Lovely venue and good service however some of the dishes e.g. The potatoes with venison weren't what the menu said and the brûlée had been 'dropped' so we had to re-order different ones. The sticky figgy pudding was solid but overall we had a lovely day. Unfortunately no discount was offered and the bill was charged for 28 people- there were 15 of us. christmas meal for 4, expected a more welcoming and festive atmosphere, which was non existent. We were seated but not offered a drinks menu or given any attention for around 15-20 minutes when we were finally offered drinks after requesting the menu. Our starters arrived before the drinks. Starters from set Christmas menu were disappointing, parfait bland and brioche just thin slices of toast. Mains were better, venison excellent but no sign of the smoked celeriac or dauphinoise potatoes offered on set menu - a stiff mashed potato instead. Turkey roast dinner ok but didn't seem freshly prepared, 'duck fat roast potatoes' soft not crispy. Desserts fair, figgy pudding too dense and dry, not enough sauce. Stone fruit pudding was actually rhubarb which no-one liked. Service charge was added automatically, we would have asked to remove this from bill but just wanted to leave after it took ages to get anyone's attention to even get the bill and then ages more to persuade someone to actually take our money. All in all, disappointing as we've eaten here a lot and had great food - was the chef on holiday? And the waiting staff? Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-12-26

The 6 of us thought the food was average and the chips required a bit more frying time- no one likes soggy chips do they? The tables weren't cleared away even after 45 mins of finishing eating , so to save further embarrassment for my friends at the lack of service I cleared them away myself . Rather disappointed overall as I have been to you many times before but will give you a miss in future unless my faith is restored on my next visit without friends! We were really looking forward to coming to the Lion and Lobster for our Christmas Party. A lot of us had been there before and had really good experiences. Unfortunately on this occasion it didn't live up to our expectations. We were made to feel a bit of an inconvenience when ordering drinks throughout the evening. A lot of the main meals were cold when they came out and all of the roast dinners were different portion sizes. We had to wait over an hour and a half before even asking for our desserts. We understand as a pub you're still open to the public but we would have thought for the amount of us that came and the money that we spent, we would have had our own area without feeling cramped by everyone else at the bar. I'm afraid we wouldn't recommend this options as a group venue to others. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-12-16

Staff wonderful as always. Unfortunately the food was poor. We have been coming for years for boys' Christmas lunch and this the first time I've ever wanted to complain. We arrived for lunch at 12.30pm and left at 6pm - I think that speaks for itself!! The food was exceptional - the roast chestnut risotto with crispy kale was divine - as were all our other meals and desserts. The 6 bottles of wine we had were very reasonably priced. The staff were all very helpful and we will certainly be making a return visit in the New Year. Thank you all for a great pre-Christmas afternoon! Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-12-15

Service was good, but the Christmas set menu was some of the worst food we as a group have ever had. I really like the Lion and Lobster and have had good meals there before, but this was so bad, that it is almost enough to make me never want to eat there again. We came for lunch after the santa dash, having visited the year before. It is such a shame to see the change. The food was cold and arrived late, the cheeseboard was nothing as it had been before, thin slithered of cheese does not a chess board make. the Bread and olive oil & Balsamic was quite honestly a joke; 3 pieces of toasted!! bread with a tiny pot of oil and barely an balsamic. We didn't complain about everything as the staff not really up to welcoming scratch. We won't be coming back again nor would be recommend anyone visit here to eat. What a shame. We were a group on Saturday night - when we arrived we ordered some pre dinner drinks - these took ages to come but in the meantime no one came over to welcome us and ask us if we were ready for the food to be served. We were still waiting for our pre dinner drinks, had not been given the chance to order any wine, when the starters came out. Not ideal but we went with it as they were already putting them on the table so at this point, we were served our starters and still didn't have a drink, not even any water. The food was OK, not as good as previous Christmas meals at the Lion and Lobster and the service, apart from the Northern Irish waiter who served us at our table and was great, was lacking to be honest and not what we were expecting. We were at L&L for a work Christmas party. Though the venue was, as always, brilliant, the food was somewhat below par. They forgot to bring us our mulled snow course, so we had to request this at the end of our meal. The salmon starter was reportedly not very good. The Venison was reportedly amazing. The Turkey left wanting, with very little thin slices of Turkey (but quite tasty), no green veg in sight, large pale barely 'roasted' potatoes, and extremely hard teeth-breaking baby carrots. Everyone enjoyed the desserts. All in all we had a good time, but this was mainly due to the company and atmosphere in the venue, as the food was disappointing and also quite surprisingly so as the Sunday roast at L&L is, from experience, pretty darn good. This is a very cute pub serving good quality roast dinners. I found the service chaotic; our food came in minutes, but we were halfway through our meal by the time our drinks arrived. The beef was good and the veg freshly cooked - no whiff of a microwave anywhere. However, there was absolutely NO seasoning in either beef or vegetables, and the gravy was a measly drop, which made the food really dry. Not somewhere I would rush to go back or highly recommend, which is a shame. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-11-26

Beautiful bar, loads of hidden gems, and helpful, quick and funny staff. Let us have a private room for our engagement party which was extra special. (Thank you so much) Great drink selection and I ate the food so fast I almost can't tell, but it was very good!!! Would recommend to anyone. They still get 5 stars but in honesty i found the booking system a bit long winded, it took a few calls to sort, but the lady who dealt with my booking was lovely and helpful. And there was a mistake on the bill- we asked for 2 child portions of roast dinners after being told that the kids meals we ordered were out of stock (it was super busy) and were charged adult sized prices for them, but this was corrected by the staff when we asked. We love the lion and Lobster, consistantly friendly service and great food. Sadly on this ocassion we were slightly disappointed. We were a party of 8 and arrived for Sunday lunch to be told half the menu, including all sides was unavailable. Yes we had a 4pm booking but the pub is always so busy on a Sunday surely there should be enough food prepared to last the whole day, especially when so many had booked the 4pm sitting. I had requested a high chair when booking and was told on arrival they don’t have any. A courtesy call beforehand to warn us would have been nice! It took a long time for anyone to take our drinks order but once we were served the staff were great. Annoyingly our first round of drinks was missed off the bill and I received a call in the evening asking me to pay for them. Perhaps a discount on this extra £56 would have been nice as it wasn’t our mistake, I had to contact the rest of the group to contribute and they would have had to write that cost off had we not pre booked! As I say, we really enjoy coming to this pub and the food was excellent, just a shame the service and choice were less then good this time round. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-11-12

We booked 4pm sitting for Sunday Lunch and they had run out of several things on the menu including Chicken, Lamb shank, Yorkshire puddings and vegetarian option. And despite asking on previous visits they still can't organise a gluten free gravy option. POOR ORGANISATION. It only takes a few minutes to cook a Yorkshire pudding. I would strongly suggest they get people to pre-order for the 4pm sitting. Its not rocket Science. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-11-12

Had a great evening in this vibrant bar and restaurant. Service was friendly, polite and efficient. They have a great selection of beers and the food was varied, well cooked. The only possible down side to our visit was was the food came a little quickly with little between courses, so maybe ask for some time between courses when you order. Food was good, service was lacklustre. It’s really quite obvious that your being siphoned in an out like some sort of Sunday roast relay. So I’m almost certain that the reason for such a numb reception from the waitresses is due to over worked staff. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-11-05

Sunday lunch was a disappointment. Food was great but the service was beyond terrible. We had about 4 different people serve us, we had to ask for condiments and table water 3 times! We were also missing three sides which had been given to the wrong table so by the time we got them the meals had been eaten. We had to keep asking for drinks and the bill. Compliments to the chefs as the food is brilliant just a shame the service lets it down. We spent £185 on Sunday lunch for 5 people with a few bottles but won't be doing it again at Lion and Lobster. Mmmm leave a review. I decided to book the lion and lobster as a birthday treat for my wife. When I searched for best pub Brighton lion and lobster came high on the list for food so I booked to be,to be honest , not that impressed. Maybe a bit research required chef seemed to like the fryer a bit too much and had some very odd food combinations that made little sense. The waiting staff were delightful and attentive but really the food and menu ............. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-11-05

The food was tasty, service and ambience great. For the smokers in the group there was a terrace to go to, like a garden which worked really well. We had a problem with the kitchen not being able to accommodate swapping the chips for another type of potato with the steak and so the choice of food became very limited. There was no milk substitute to had either, no almond or soya milk to swap out for cows milk with the coffees which didn’t work so well either. It would be great if staff swapped all cutlery after every course not just leaving some dirty cutlery on the table to be used for the next course. Have eaten at the L & L before, which was why I booked it. Not so good this time, loud street party outside pub with live bands. Would have been nice if they had told us this when we booked the table as it did spoil our meal. Also service EXTREMELY slow, had to leave to get to another engagement at a certain time, which meant no time for dessert/coffee. Sorry Lion and Lobster felt disappointed this time :(. Unfortunately after hearing amazing things about the Sunday roast here, we unfortunately didn't have the best experience - our food orders were wrong, so we had to wait for those to be amended whilst others at our table ate, most of the vegetables were inedible, beef dinners came without their Yorkshires, we didn't receive our side orders either and the Vegetarian option came with no vegetables, however we did receive discount of 10%. Would be back for standard pub food but not roast. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-10-29

Absolutely awful. Worst experience anywhere for a long time !! Had to wait for our table which was still occupied long after we arrived. Didn't even wipe the table or lay it properly before we sat down. Other tables received their food around us and still we waited for ours despite asking several times where it was. When it came, only 4 meals arrived out of 6, the last 2 were the wrong meals and we waited again. Of the 4, one was cold and one was so small it hadn't been worth waiting for. The 2 missing meals never did come. We asked to speak to the manager (having been told by the waitresses they were all new and didn't know what was going on)but it's hard to have a conversation with someone who's dressed as a clown and had obviously felt their time was better spent attending a street party rather than managing their restaurant and staff and making sure customers were fed!!! We all left there, with 4 out of 6 of us not having eaten. Dreadful experience !!!.. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-10-28

There was a massive delay in waiting for my friend's food to come out; we had pretty much finished before it had arrived. When it did, it was cold. My chair broke while I was sat on it, this caused a massive embarrassment to me and the rest of party as everyone in the cramped dining room turned to look. I couldn't relax for the rest of the meal... I'm not sure why these chairs were not checked before, what if a senior had been sat on it? Or someone pregnant? I did not get an apology for this at all... in fact, the rude just brought out a replacement chair, which I noticed still appeared to be breaking too! I had painful lower back for the rest of the afternoon, and couldn't properly enjoy my trip to Tulleys Farm park. I will not recommend this pub to anyone at all and would like to receive some compensation. This is not the first time I have been exposed to poor service from the Lion and Lobster. We had looked up a nice place to eat whilst staying in Brighton, and The Lion & Lonster had really good reviews, so felt kind of excited to book a table there. However when we got there the place was fairly empty (early evening) it seemed there was a lot of staff, but no one really made an effort. Food was okay, but didn’t live up to expectations, so over all it was an okay experience. It's ok, but its certainly not the best Sunday lunch in Brighton, sorry. The staff worked hard. The food really was incredible. But and unfortunately its a big but.. You had run out of lamb shank and pigs in blankets, not the wildest of issues as another lamb choice was available, delicious so big thanks to the chefs. But the way the staff spoke to us it was truly disgusting. I understand working in a restaurant environtment may be stressful when busy but do not take this out on customers. There was a dark haired young girl running around cussing when walking away (when we politely asked where the rest of our food was) then when she brought the rest of our food to the table there was gravy missing which we had asked for. To which she stormed off and returned with the most sarcastic manor. Do your job correctly in the first place then they wouldnt have got in such a fluster. Or i'd advise they get another job where dealing with the public isnt involved. Our whole table was shocked. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-10-15

Below average service. I had to organise condiments and drinks myself as the young bar staff could not be bothered to engage in a friendly way and simply told us to hurry up and order as the kitchen was closing soon. I checked before confirming the booking that the kitchen would not going to run out of things and was assured that they would not but low and behold no cauliflower cheese (being veggie this is a hilight) and barely any desserts left. Average at best , need to update your website and make it clear that although you say bar menu served till 9 pm on a Sunday, you don't explain that you don't serve it till after 6 pm . Therefore no starters for Sunday lunch . You bar man brought our pre lunch drinks already full of mixer I am sure you use post mix therefore we should have been asked how much mixer we wanted . Food was virtually tasteless beef very tough hence razor thin slices only way to cut it red cabbage no taste broccoli heads mush stems tough . However good roast potatoes and carrots, but no carrot and swede mash as advertised , needed more gravy , table next to us had to ask three times for gravy should be a gravy boat served as standard, .Not once did any of the waiting staff ask how are meal was , bad service and too many staff running about doing nothing , you need to sort out which staff do what need allocated positions . Would not recommend you to any one we know for lunch , huge disappointment as we booked with you because of your reviews , all I can say is that the people reviewing you are not used to anything above mediocre food and service Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-10-08

Absolutely love this place and great food but have a few points for feedback: 1 - when I booked the table would have loved to have had the option to reserve for dinner in the pub area. 2 - upon going to the restaurant to get or table, we stood ignored by 3 different waitresses and after finally being acknowledge were told we had to go to the "check in design" which is simply a computer hidden by a door, not the most visible. 3 - one of the waitresses wasn't the friendliest lets just say but luckily the majority of the time we were looked after by a lovely Irish chap who was brilliant! The pub, in general, is really lovely and the food and drinks were fantastic. The music was great too! Unfortunately, we had reserved two tables downstairs and were made aware that we must fill them at 7 pm, or else they could be given away. When we arrived on time, a man and woman were sat in our seats and when asked them politely to move once our guests arrived (we said they could keep the seats warm til then), they told us to 'F**k off', said they knew the owners and could sit wherever they liked. They were extremely aggressive. I reported them to the bar staff, particularly since they said they knew the manager, but nothing was done to assist us. The couple did leave, but not without a fuss and stress caused. Later that night, we tried to move our other table to accommodate two of our last guests who were arriving (there were over ten of us) and a member bar staff came over and abruptly said she had swapped people from the restaurant upstairs and said that our reservation was over, we couldn't have our table anymore. We were not even asked before a bunch of quite rude clientele all piled in. There was a bad atmosphere in there with the clientele, too, that night. It was bizarre. Surely you don't expect everyone to arrive at 7 on the dot? There were at least 5/6 of us from 7.30 and two of us from 7. We also spent so much money in the pub that night - food, bottles of wine, beers and spirits, all before our table was removed! A few lessons could certainly be learned in customer service there. Frankly, It was very 'un-Brighton' and I was very upset and embarrassed at the start of my birthday evening out. What a shame. I won't be reserving there again and will go elsewhere to begin my evening. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-10-06

I would definitely be minded to visit again, service was lovely and the venue is very comfortable and full of character. Can't say I was a huge fan of the food though, which is a shame given so many of my friends had decent reviews. The starter of root vegetable bhajis were so dense in the mouth, very different to usual bhajis and not a very appealing texture. For mains we both chose burgers, admittedly not the most exciting choice but we were craving something decadent. My beef burger was thick and high quality meat, but overly sweet to taste. My friends halloumi and pickled cucumber burger came with one slice of cucumber - it may be more accurate described as a halloumi burger. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-09-15

After reading the lion and lobster was now in the top ten roasts in Brighton we ventured from our usual beloved place. I wish we hadn't. Ord red pork belly and it was 90%fat and finished under the grill or blowtorch so no crackling. I did complain and they replaced he whole meal and the second pork belly was much better, but still no crackling. My girlfriend ordered but roast and was disappointed as it seemed more like a stuffing loaf (sage heavy). Think we'll stick to our tried and tested now on. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-09-10

Fantastic pub! new favourite. My only complaint is that they had run out of some menu options. Next time I would book the table for earlier that 8:45 to avoid this. Great staff, amazing food. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-09-09

We celebrated my husbands 70th birthday there last Friday evening. We were a party of 8 and we had a lovely time . The service was excellent , plenty of choice on the menu and the food was great. The pub itself is very quirky, it did get very noisy but that just added to the atmosphere. We thought it was very good value for money. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-09-08

The 2000 pub quiz started at 2040, which is a long delay - most people in the Bar were there for the quiz - and it was very slow once it did start. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-09-04

We had a group of 15 people. I thought the staff were terrific and really helpful. We thought the food was average/good. One of our party had a problem with the salad which can only be described as terrible and I suspect this may not have been a one off. I think the location is excellent but a little more finesse would get much higher scores. We have been a few times so know what can be provided. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-09-03

Good quality and tasty food in a relaxed but efficient environment. We dined in the restaurant and despite the venue feeling busy we were looked after and had a great evening. Oysters were fresh and sharing board tasty and plentiful. Mains were tasty again with quality steak and both a vegetarian and meat burger being generous and tasty. Service good, staff friendly, Bollinger was fine but both of our steaks (rib eye and bavette) were as tough as old boots. To the credit of the restaurant we were not charged for them and no fuss was made. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-08-26

Went to the Lion and Lobster for a post wedding lunch with around 60 people and we had the whole of the top restaurant reserved for us. The food was fantastic and came out really quickly which was perfect for everyone's hangovers. Everyone said how good the food was and how great the service was too. Thank you very much for making it run so smoothly for us. This is definitely my favourite pub in Brighton! Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-08-13

We were entertaining 4 customers from London - first comment from one of them was that it was nice to be taken to a real pub and not some pretentious restaurant. Great service and very accommodating (two of the party were an hour late) Lots of comments about how good the food was. We had to wait 45-50 minutes to receive our starter & when it arrived the smoked salmon gravadlax was almost inedible. The mains were better although the chips were soggy (steaks x 2 were good as was the haddock). We were sat in the restaurant not the pub, but some of the customers decided to come up and use the restaurant bar instead of the pub and were very, very noisy which is not conducive to eating in a restaurant. If we wanted that kind of "atmosphere" we would have sat downstairs in the pub area. All in all not a very nice experience - which is shame as we have been previously and it was fine. I've always loved this pub for drinks, it's a great place, quirky and friendly, but this was my first time eating in the upstairs restaurant. I was there with my godfather (who is in his late 70s) and we both had a really lovely time. The restaurant- a series of interlocking open rooms - Is full of character and there is a lovely ambience. It soon filled up with a great of people, from families to friends to couples, to a big group of 10 guys who were not remotely noisy, but despite being full the waitresses and waiter were really efficient while also being extremely friendly, helpful and all round lovely. The food was very good and generous sized portions. I didn't have space for a pudding unfortunately - next time! This pub also has two separate rooftop smoking areas, so something for everyone. I love this place. Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-08-05

Unfortunately we had a bit of a bad experience with the food, after placing our order and waiting for 40 minutes, we were told there was no beef left. When the lunch did arrive the roast potatoes were raw and we were told they would bring out some properly cooked ones but after another half an hour and eating very slowly they did not appear. Aside all of this the meat was lovely and the staff were suitably apologetic and we received our food and puddings on the house for our inconvenience. The puddings were delicious too. Would try again as they compensated us suitably but would go earlier in the day! Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-07-30

I went for lunch last Sunday. I ordered pork belly which didn't have cracklings (what's the point of having pork belly without cracklings!!), roast potatoes where burnt and I didn't have any Yorkshire puddings!!! I went for dinner with my brother who visits me in Brighton only once a year, so I didn’t really want to kick up a fuss in front of him. Our table was booked for 20:45 so not exactly early. For starter, my brother ordered the deep fried coconut squid. This was good but did not taste much of coconut. I ordered a crab and brown shrimp madras mayonnaise on a poppadom. This was a failure. It was basically madras curry paste mixed with mayonnaise so it tasted the same as coronation chicken. There was no flavour of crab and the brown shrimp had no flavour also. It rested on the poppadom so it made the poppadom soggy (what were they playing at with this dish???!) For main I ordered confit of duck with basil potato croquette and my brother ordered macaroni cheese with slow braised Ox tail. When the dishes came out my brother received Mackerel (not macaroni) so the waitress misheard. That’s ok as accidents happen. We were then very politely approached by the head waiter offering to put my plate back to warm while the macaroni cheese was being prepared. 15 minutes later, when both meals came back the confit of duck did not fall off the bone at all and it was super dry and the potato croquettes dried the whole thing out even more. The waiter did rectify the situation by offering us a free desert or free drink for the misunderstanding of our order which was totally the right thing to do. We felt that they tried to fix this problem so we just continued to carry on with our meals however by this time it was gone 21:30 so we couldn’t waste any more of our evening. I saw that my brother had eaten all the pasta form the macaroni cheese but had left all the Ox Tail and asked him why. He showed it to me and the Oxtail was basically full of bits of fat and scraps of meat. Not as softly braised as it should have been. I drink here sometimes and thought I’d take my brother somewhere that people talk positively about the food. Maybe we were just unlucky. After talking to a friend about our meals the next day she commented that she’d heard that chefs had changed or the kitchen had gone under new management. I’d like to point out that the staff were great and tried to look after us however I am not sure if I have enough confidence to go back to the restaurant and give it another try. It would be a shame if the Lion and Lobster went “down hill”! Visited The Lion and Lobster on 2017-07-13
