Skaters were recently signed by the Warner Brothers label earlier this year, and since then have been making massive strides on the indie rock scene with their first EP, Schemers. NME have even said that they are, ‘everything we wished The Strokes still epitomized’. Great for Skaters, sucks for The Strokes. Hailing from the Big Apple, this indie punk trio are inspired by everything New York; past, present and future. The result? The best way to put it would be the surprisingly attractive love child of Kings of Leon and The Drums. The idea is horrendous, but actually their sounds are pretty darn good. Their fluid vocals merge flawlessly with their rugged punk sound, reminding our ears of the long lost era of 70s New York punk, but with that modern garage influence that make them all the more worth listening to. Having already played at the Rainbow Venues, and playing Reading and Leeds this year, Skaters are on their way up, so catch them at The Hare and Hounds before they soar out of our reach.
