The Fighting Cocks - Pub Review

Another in a charming list of Moseley's independent pubs, The Fighting cocks is a quirky dabble in cool crafts and indie vibes. With original period features dating back as far as the 1800's, this delectable little pub is as traditional as it is contemporary.

The Venue

Brimming with upcycled furniture, quirky crafted pieces and all kinds of odds and sods, The Fighting Cocks is a fun mish-mash of traditional meets barmy. Following through from a warm and inviting main room (honestly, i'll be darned if someone wasn't churning a roaring wood fire in this place) filled with booming cosy sofa's and ample wooden dining tables, we headed out to the beer garden. This has to be my favourite part of The Fighting Cocks, though quaint, this tucked little retreat is brimming with lovely lime clad furniture, vintage sofa's and even uses an old scantily clad brick shed as part of its outdoor excursion.

There are hearty vibes to be found in charming Moseley venue, The Fighting Cocks.

The Drink

Whilst the drinks menu at The Fighting Cocks doesn't rant and rave of outlandish cocktails or bustling unusual flavours, it's got a great selection of time-old classics that remind you why you didn't go for a party bar in Birmingham city centre. Sipping on me ol' regular for no more than £4 (a Jack Daniels and Coke for anyone buying) I noticed a menu that caught my eye. Now I may have said that The Fighting Cocks don't boast the outlandish, but they do boast a dapper selection of cask ales, American craft beers and German lagers that fit in well with the subtle quirky surroundings.

Make time for The Fighting Cocks as they make time for age old classics.

The Atmosphere and Clientele

One of the greatest things I found about The Fighting Cocks was that regardless of whether we were stuck in a mid-week slog, Birmingham's indie patrons and cool cats still came out in their throngs to visit this quirky little pub. Playing indie favourites and subtle rock jaunts, there's a great air of young and fun in this place that still manages to attract mature pub locals. The vibe was chilled, the clientele were relaxed and the atmosphere matched how I like my coffee, grounded.

While traditional, The Fighting Cocks in Moseley aren't disposed to a DJ night or three.

Summary

If you're after a charming pub with a hearty selection of great vibes and music, then scarper and get to this Moseley pub in a dash. Maybe its the warmth of its patrons, maybe its the quaint beer garden, but regardless of all the maybe's The Fighting Cocks is a big all round YES from me.
