Well isnt this something? Another 90s icon and legend, will be coming to Birmingham once again, for another episode of Loaded Acoustic Sessions.

Ladies and Gentlemen, John Power..

Having first made his mark on the UK pop scene in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s with renowned Liverpudlian quartet The La’s, Power left the group to form a new group called Cast Band. The timing of the band’s emergence was perfect, chiming with the mid-1990s rise of Britpop and, with guitar-based kindred spirits such as Oasis and Blur dominating the charts, Cast’s first two LPs, All Change (released in 1995 and reputedly Polydor’s biggest-selling debut album) and ‘97’s Mother Nature Calls both sold over 1,000,000 copies.

After Cast split in 2001, Polydor put an offer on the table for John Power to record as a solo artist, but at the time he’d had

enough of the whole music business and felt he had to get out.

It didnt take long and JP was soon back in the studio and has since delivered some amazing solo material, as well as most recently getting the line up for Cast back together, and getting back in the studio and back on the road and on stages across the country both on his own with Jay Lewis at his side, and with a full band set up in the form of Cast.

This is going to be one hell of a Summers night in the smoky industrial surroundings of Digbeth.

Tommo Barnes or Barnesy as he is better known in these parts, has been on the brum gig scene for a while now with some decent support slots, which include; Chris Helme of The Seahorses, Greg Griffin of Proud Mary, John Lennon McCullagh, Gary Stringer of Reef, James Walsh of Starsailor, Turin Brakes (Official), and also having been invited and played sets in Ibiza at Ocean Beach Ibiza in San Antonio. With sets at Lunar Festival, which included the likes of Temples and 60's legend Donovan. Moseley Folk Festival and a set at Liam Gallaghers Pretty Green shop in Manchester. The Shanklins

The Shanklins, although young in age, are abundant and full to the brim, with influence, new and old and raw talent. Having been gigging now for half a decade, yet still only just hitting 20, these lads bring everything to the stage.

Big, bold and bawdy guitar riffs and a rhythm section that will always leave you clapping and tapping to every song, you would be a fool to judge a book by its cover at first glance in regards to the four piece from Staffordshire. Their songs and choice of lyrics are as relatable and influential as you are going to get, and every single track, crafted with a palpable, resolute ethos, hold up against anything deemed as current.

2016 will see The Shanklins turn it up a notch, and the release of their forthcoming EP this summer will be the crowning glory.
