Oran Mor

Description

It's a bar, it's a restaurant, it's a club, it's a venue, it's a... church. Óran Mór is a stunning old-church-turned-super-venue, perched on the corner of Byres Road in the heart of Glasgow's West End. With two bars, two restaurants, a venue, a nightclub, a beautiful auditorium and seven nights of late opening, Óran Mór is a one-stop destination for all things Glasgow nightlife.

After a careful restoration, the true-to-the-venue decor calls for old stone walls, dark wooden fixtures, and roaring fires. Hints of the building's more pious past as Kelvinside Parish Church stay on, with iron columns, church bells, stained glass and mounted head carvings of prominent church figures.

The selection of spaces brings a contrasting crowd, The Brasserie Bar attracts cocktail drinkers with its late bar, while The Whisky Bar - and its stock of 250 malts - lures those looking for something a little stiffer. Club O draws a party crowd Thursday to Sunday, as guest and resident DJs lay on the floor fillers. Meanwhile throughout the week, live music and lunchtime theatre fill out the already chocker programme.

Should you fancy something to eat, Óran Mór has every base covered with three spaces to choose from. Most people will opt to eat in The Brasserie Restaurant which specialises in Scottish-sourced dishes.
