Named after the year that the vegetarian society was formed, 1847 is a super-chic North Laine restaurant that specialises in vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dining. 

Step inside and you'll discover that this stylish eatery is decked out with contemporary decor throughout - you'll find marble tabletops, monochrome herringbone flooring and a swanky spiral staircase that unites all three floors of this charming, sixty four-cover restaurant bar.  

Directly mirroring the decor, the menus on offer here are as contemporary as they come. 1847 offers up a selection of modern dishes that span across of four menus - 'á la carte', 'taster', 'Sunday lunch' and 'express lunch' - each created with a real sense of humour and the ambition to push the boundaries of vegetarian cooking. Expect dishes like the 'Beet Bourguignon'; a twist on the classic Beef Bourguignon, but of course, made with beetroot instead. In regards to the tipples, 1847 has a carefully-curated wine list of vegan-only wines; and alongside that, there's a cracking selection of selection of champagne, spirits and beers too. Best of all, if you head downstairs here, the basement houses a botanically-based cocktail bar name Dandelion! Here, the lovely mixologists will rustle up a selection of expertly-mixed, super-delectable concoctions.
