We are delighted to present the
3rd in our “Meet The Sporting
Family” series with the “Bellamy” Family joining us for an evening
of great conversation and fine food here at Wild Thyme & Honey on
Tuesday 3rd March
2026.
The Bellamy family are
synonymous with all things equine here in the Cotswolds.
All 3 have competed as National
Hunt Jockeys with the unique distinction of each riding a
Cheltenham winner.
Father Robert “Bells” rode 115
winners in a career that saw many injuries and long periods on the
sidelines. On retirement from competitive racing he became “poacher
turned gamekeeper” with roles as a Clerk of the Course and race day
presenter.
Oldest son Tom “Young Bells” is
one of the leading NH jockeys in the country, comfortably in the
top 15 of the jockey’s championship he is the Number 1 rider for
local trainers Kim Bailey and Alan King and is looking forward to
his rides at the Cheltenham Festival.
Youngest son Archie “Even
Younger Bells” dreamt of being a NH jockey and achieved his
ambition riding as a conditional jockey and winning at Cheltenham
on Lively Citizen. Lack of opportunities on the racetrack saw
Archie switch roles and he now schools and rides out young horses
with top trainer Charlie Longsdon.
The evening hosted by Roger
Hart as usual will take us through the careers of all the “Bells”,
the highs & lows and lots of funny stories along the
way.
Your ticket price includes a
raffle ticket and participation in an auction to raise funds for
Racing Welfare.
