Quip Shed Comedy is delighted to continue to host comedy nights at The Bel & The Dragon in Wendover. For our June show, we are over the moon to have TV's Ahir Shah and Finlay Christie, with support from Ben Pope and host Lyle Barke!
Ben Pope is a stand-up comedian and writer, gigging regularly across the UK. His Edinburgh 2018 debut stand-up hour Baby Sasquatch transferred to the Soho Theatre in June 2019, and he took his sophomore show Dancing Bear to the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Fringe the same year.
He was the Piccadilly Comedy Club New Comedian of the Year Winner 2017 and has placed as a finalist in So You Think You’re Funny and Comedy Cafe New Act of the Year 2015. He started comedy at university where he was the President of the Cambridge Footlights 2013-14 and has previously worked with the award-winning NewsRevue, and appeared on Comedy Central’s Achievement Unlocked and BBC New Comedy Award on Radio 4 Extra.
He is also one third of the cult sketch group Princes of Main who were part of the line-up at London SketchFest in 2016, host the monthly mixed-bill night Crazy Science Stupid Magic and have had sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 and 2017. Their critically acclaimed show New Year’s Eve ‘the future of sketch comedy is in safe hands’ – The Telegraph transferred to London’s Soho Theatre in early 2018.
At 19, Finlay Christie became the youngest ever winner of the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny competition, following in the footsteps of Peter Kay, Lee Mack and Sarah Millican. 3 years later, his debut Edinburgh show “OK Zoomer” was nominated for NextUp’s “Best Show” award. His material, based around his experience as a Gen Z, led Chortle to describe him as “the voice of his generation”.
His YouTube channel, featuring sketches and stand-up clips has over 300k subscribers and 120m views. He has appeared on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, The Stand-Up Sketch Show, The BBC New Comedy Awards, Get Off My Phone! and Jokes Only An AI Can Tell. He has performed at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival and across Europe for the Comedy Store.
2023 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Ahir Shah is one of the fastest-rising comedians of his generation and is known for his sharp, intellectual brand of stand-up featuring a blend of philosophical inquiry, political vigour, and sweet gags.
Ahir is a regular on television and radio and has performed stand-up on Live At The Apollo, The Now Show and Stand Up Central. Outside of stand up, Ahir has been seen on shows including Have I Got News For You, QI, Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, Mock the Week, The Mash Report/Late Night Mash, Guessable, Rob Beckett’s Undeniable and Catastrophe.
