Freight Island is Newcastle’s newest neighbourhood: an island above the city centre with a focus on food, drink and music. We’re home to a collective of restaurants and bars from the country’s brightest culinary stars, with a 1500 person music venue coming soon. Just like a festival, no two days at Freight Island are the same.
Discover new sounds at on Thursdays. Spend Friday night with a local collective. Hit up a headliner every Saturday. Shake off the scaries at our chilled Sunday sessions. All weekend long, we’re platforming fresh talent and curating the vibe.
Fun is thirsty work. Head over to our cocktail bar for a marg or martini (dirty, shaken). For casual pints, go local with a hazy pale brewed down the road at Two by Two. And since we offer the very best in organic, sustainable wines, why not just get the bottle for the table?

A breath of fresh air, literally. The Plant Room brings the outdoors in, with a retractable roof, lush greenery, and city-wide views from our rooftop terrace. It’s available for full or partial hire, with adaptable layouts and communal seating options. We recommend it for your more low-key meetings, or belta office socials. Removing the tables creates a large, versatile space that can be configured for exhibitor stands, trade exhibitions, networking zones and interactive experiences.
