Description
Housed in the stunning former Union Bank of Manchester on the corner of Great Underbank and Bridge Street Brow, This Godless Place is one of Stockport's most distinctive independent venues. The soaring carved limestone exterior gives way to an interior that does full justice to its heritage — ornate ceilings, exposed brick walls and the original bank vaults, softened with cosy booth seating, neon lighting and a disco ball that comes into its own after dark.
The food is proper comfort done well. Brunch runs Thursday to Sunday from 10am — think full English, full veggie and full vegan breakfasts, breakfast tacos, pancakes, waffles, DIY butties and toasted ciabatta sandwiches. From midday the main menu kicks in with birria brisket tacos, Mexican chicken tacos, BBQ pulled pork tacos, fried chicken thighs, a seriously stacked burger menu (beef, lamb, fried chicken and vegan options), small plates, nachos, mac n cheese, quesadillas, steak skewers and more. There's a kids menu too, and desserts for those who make it that far.
Drinks-wise there's a great selection of draught lagers, craft beer lines, bottled beers, wines and spirits — plus a solid cocktail list with 2-4-1 on all cocktails every day from 5pm.
