Outer Heaven

Description

Outer Heaven is a sleek, high-end cocktail lounge and microclub tucked away on Chrystie Street in NYC’s Lower East Side. Designed by nightlife developer Jack Mulqueen and brought to life by Montreal’s Philip Hazan Design, the venue embraces a Japandi aesthetic - blending Scandinavian functionality with Japanese minimalism.

The space is intimate and artful, with anime-inspired touches like arcade cabinets, a curated comic book stand, and wall art from legends like Katsuhira Otomo and Hajime Sorayama. It’s a love letter to otaku culture, wrapped in a minimalist shell.

The club’s standout feature is its sound and lighting setup, engineered by Phonic Technologies (the team behind Cielo and Output), which delivers what’s been called the best sound system per square foot in NYC. Outer Heaven’s programming leans into house, disco, techno, and indie dance, with bartenders occasionally spinning vinyl between DJ sets.

The drinks menu, crafted by Alex Smith, centers around mezcal, sake, and orange wine, offering a mix of bold, floral, and zero-proof options. Owned by a collective including Mulqueen, William Tigertt, Victor Houston, Tolga Dogan, Donte McGuine, and Smith, Outer Heaven is open nightly and built for those who want a stylish, sensory-rich night out without the chaos of a mega club.
