Description
Birdland Jazz Club is one of New York City’s most iconic music venues, affectionately known as 'The Jazz Corner of the World.' Originally opened in 1949 and named after saxophone legend Charlie 'Bird' Parker, the club has hosted a who’s who of jazz greats - from Count Basie and John Coltrane to Ella Fitzgerald and Miles Davis.
Now located on West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan, Birdland blends old-school charm with modern comfort. The main room features tiered seating, warm lighting, and excellent acoustics, while the downstairs Birdland Theater offers a more intimate cabaret-style experience with a full bar and Italian-inspired menu.
Owned by Gianni Valenti, Birdland continues to be a cultural hub, offering nightly performances from world-class musicians and resident acts like the Birdland Big Band. The venue is also home to Jim Caruso’s Cast Party, a long-running Monday night variety show that draws Broadway stars and jazz aficionados alike.
With its rich history, top-tier programming, and cozy yet elegant setting, Birdland remains a must-visit for anyone looking to soak up the soul of NYC’s jazz scene.
