Description
Maison Premiere in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is a cocktail and oyster bar that feels like stepping into a bygone era. Founded in 2011 by Joshua Boissy and Krystof Zizka, the venue draws heavy inspiration from the absinthe cafés of Paris and the oyster bars of New Orleans. Inside, it’s all about atmosphere: think green patina walls, vintage glassware, ceiling fans, and a marble horseshoe bar anchored by a replica of the famed absinthe fountain from Bourbon Street. The garden space, open seasonally, channels a French Quarter courtyard vibe - ideal for sipping martinis and soaking up the charm.
It boasts the largest absinthe selection in the U.S., and its oyster program features over 30 varieties sourced directly from farmers. The bar’s theatrical cocktail service - like the tableside Old King Cole Martini - adds a layer of old-school glamour that’s hard to find elsewhere. It’s no surprise the venue has racked up accolades, including a James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar Program and regular spots on the World’s and North America’s 50 Best Bars lists.
The team even released the Maison Premiere Almanac, a part-history, part-recipe book that captures the soul of the place. Whether you're there for a quiet date or a celebratory toast, it’s a spot that blends timeless elegance with Brooklyn cool.
