The folks behind Trove Cafe are bringing a new British restaurant to Ancoats.

Erst, meaning 'formerly', is going to be open five days a week and will be harking back to simpler times, with fire used for cooking and a wine list that is largely natural and biodynamic. Expect seasonal dishes such as whole grilled mackerel with monk's beard and tomato, wild fennel saucisson, and ricotta dumplings with wild garlic butter.

Interiors will mirror the simple menu, with earth tones, concrete floors, and wooden tables. Serving dinner Wednesday - Saturday, and lunch on Sundays, expect this spot to quickly become a date-night essential.
