Description
The Star & Garter is an old fashioned Manchester bar situated just over the road from the Piccadilly station taxi rank. Dark mahogony barstools and a faded green pool table give this venue a great touch of character that is often non-existent in present day bars.
This is a proper 'Old Man's Pub', the cosy bar centered in the middle of the downstairs which also includes a pool table, plenty of seating and a few sit-down arcade machines that are a great way to pass the time with a friend. Upstairs is the gig room; a great Manchester music venue which hosts a vast array of different bands throughout the week. Door charges vary so do your research before heading up the stairs. Tongue-in-cheek posters on the wall lamenting the 'customer is always right' paints the correct picture for this cheeky example of a traditionally British pub.
If you're looking for things to do in Manchester before your train leaves or if you want a real taste of the North then stop by at The Star & Garter next time you're around the area.
