The Salutation (affectionally known as The Sally) is a quirky pub and hotel that offers something a little different to the usual pub experience in Manchester’s busy Oxford Road district. The interior is smart yet with a traditional element; tiled floors, a long bar and exposed beams all make The Salutation look like an old-school pub.
The food and drink also add to the traditional vibe with home-cooked bar snacks available, as well as a great selection of guest cask ales and craft beers. Don’t worry if you don’t like drinking beer and ale though, they also have a good wine and spirit list. The entertainment is what gives The Salutation its added dimension; on Friday and Saturday nights expect to hear resident DJs banging out the biggest and brightest in indie, alternative, hip hop and garage, all catering for the younger crowd that generally frequent The Salutation. Live music is also a big crowd-pleaser at The Salutation with folk evenings and jam sessions offering a great alternative to the drinkers of Manchester.
The Salutation is a great cross blend of old and new, retro and contemporary, which makes it perfect as a drinking destination in the student heavy Oxford Road area of Manchester. So if you’re after a cool pub to share a drink with friends, or somewhere other than a nightclub to spend a late evening then The Salutation is the place for you.
