The Metropolitan is a grand pub and restaurant in Didsbury, South Manchester, housed in a former Victorian railway hotel, which has style and character by the bucket load, a fabulous garden area and a fine wine and beer list! Situated on the corner of the stylish Burton Road and Lapwing Lane, this huge pub is a real hub of West Didsbury, where young professionals and creatives rub shoulders with well-dressed locals and celebrities in the different spaces throughout the building.
And what spaces they are! As well as the main bar, head out the back door and you will come across an expansive beer garden, complete with umbrellas, heaters and the stunning Stable Bar - half under cover and leading directly onto the outside seating area. Add to this a dedicated dining area (the Conservatory Restaurant) serving modern favourites and Met classics and you have the whole package. Afternoon tea is available too, in the Library, where you can also kick back with a cask ale or malt whisky.
One tip: this place is hugely popular and the bar can get ridiculously busy - so it may be worth considering their fine wines by the bottle for fewer repeat bar scrums!
