Behind the Decks: Lauren Lo Sung

Each week we get behind the decks with the very best resident DJs from across the Manchester club scene, chatting about the newest releases, the best clubs and the picks of the month.

This week we present a special edition of Behind the Decks. She's one of the most talented young DJs and producers around, runs her own night in Liverpool, LoLife, and if you've ever had the pleasure of meeting her, is one of the most charming and down to earth people on the scene. She loves to throw the dance floor into a frenzy with deep bass riddled grooves and will be preparing something tasty ahead of her set at Gorilla with Evans, Zander and those lovely chaps from EXHiBiT this Saturday.  This week we get behind the decks with none other than Lauren Lo Sung, to talk her favourite tunes, going back to back with tINI and where you might find her before she hits the decks.

What do you love most about the clubbing scene in Manchester?
It's up there with the best, if you go to the right places in Manchester most people are there solely for the music, which is hard to find in most cities. It has an amazing vibe which I can't even explain!

What makes Manchester so important to the UK club scene?
Manchester's music scene is packed full of history. Just look at Stone Roses, Oasis, The Smiths. The Manchester clubs are really something to be proud of too, some of the best ever club nights originated from here such as The Hacienda. Not to mention the growth of Sankeys and The Warehouse Project who have an amazing reputation.

What’s one of the best club nights you have ever been to in Manchester?
There's so many, but off the top of my head, EXHiBiT.

Favourite place to party in Manchester?
Gorilla, it's such a cool venue, one of the best I've ever seen. I love the positioning of the DJ set up overlooking the crowd, the size is perfect too as it's not too big!

Favourite Manchester bar for pre-club drinks?
I don't have one in particular but I love having a little bar crawl around the Northern Quarter if I'm out in Manchester.

What's your favourite tune of all time to hear in a club?
That's a tough one, but probably, A Guy Called Gerald, Voodoo Ray.

If you could throw a club night with any two DJs going back to back in your own living room for 20 of your mates, who would you choose?
Am I allowed to pick myself? Ha... If so then tINI and I b2b. If not then it would have to be tINI and Guti.

Pick of the month?

Track: Low Tales - Someone Like You (Rhadow Remix)

Clubnight: EXHiBiT, this Saturday 18th January in Manchester, with Evans, myself, Zander and the EXHiBiT residents on the bill (free entry too!).

Finally, if you could choose one club in the world to go to for the rest of your life, which would it be?
It would have to be Space Ibiza, I can't get enough of that place. The sound system is perfect and the atmosphere is spot on every time.
