Australasia aims to deliver the stylish and fresh modern Australian lifestyle down under in Manchester. This subterranean dining and drinking experience is accessed via a glassed dome that pops out of the street like a UFO whisking you away to planet gastro. As you descend the stairs, you are greeted by a bright, uber-modern dining space with creams and whites and whitewashed furniture making you feel you have just stepped off the beach (a very classy one). The driftwood features also add to the exotic vibes and a young, very well dressed clientele pack this place to the rafters.
Australasia consists of a restaurant, a swish bar and a late-night lounge that comes to life from Thursdays and goes on until 3am at the weekends with DJs playing to a glamorous party crowd. The food menu takes inspiration from the Pacific rim for those looking to dine and sushi, sashimi and tempura are served in the bar for those getting a little hungry after working their way through the cocktails.
