Description
Tucked into the corner of Mackie Mayor’s Grade II‑listed food hall, Stray is a beauty: big windows looking onto the cobbles, a marble‑topped bar with velvet stools, exposed brick and snug nooks that feel just as inviting mid‑afternoon as they do after dark. It’s intimate and unfussy with a covered terrace for sunny days and a playlist that keeps the mood mellow.
Stray’s USP is precision without pretension. The menu revolves around “Led Astray” signatures and a weekly martini that gives the team room to experiment, all anchored in locally sourced ingredients, in‑house infusions and cordials. The Tomato Vine Margarita has become a calling card, but there’s equal care across refined classics, thoughtful low‑ and no‑alcohol builds, and a small run of bottled cocktails to take home.
Opened in November 2023 by founders Ben Reilly and Fran Cruse, Stray has already earned national acclaim - ranking among the UK’s Top 50 Cocktail Bars. This walk-ins only spot is a must-visit.
