Sandinista is a cantina bar with a strong emphasis on Spanish tapas, live music and Cuban inspired cocktails. Named after The Clash's Fourth album, rock n roll pulses through the vains of this lively cocktail bar, with artwork and music album covers adorning the walls and include Primal Scream, Bob Marley, Nirvana and The Artic Monkeys. The decor has flashes of Havana with a grand bar and mahogany cantina styled seating.

Sandinista serves food until 10pm every night and includes a delicious array of sharing tapas dishes and a big push on fresh local ingredients. This can all be washed down by a fabulous range of cocktails and global beers, the back bar is stocked to the hilt with unique spirits, rums and tequilas. Sandinista has a big personality and this kid likes to party, opening till 3am every night of the week. The party kicks off at the weekends with DJs playing an eclectic crate of rock, punk, soul, reggae and motown. They also boast a downstairs basement bar that is perfect for hiring for birthdays and parties.

I hired the private room downstairs at Sandinista's for my 30th birthday party October 2014. I will start by saying i had the best night of my life! The food, venue and staff were faultless! I am extremely grateful. Details: I booked Sandinista's because of the Cuban theme. I'm a cuban salsa dancer, and the theme for my salsa/RnB party was havana nights, making Sandinista's perfect. The decor looks amazing, candles and dark wood. You can have ur own DJ downstairs, use upstairs music and DJ fed downstairs, or do ur own playlist, which I did, and played off my iPad. Perfect as I was very particular about my music fusion. You cannot hear upstairs music at all from downstairs. The room apparently fits 50 sitting, 100 standing. I believe I had 70/90 people, and it was a perfect fit! Plenty space to salsa dance, and everyone was comfortable. The layout of the room makes it appear smaller than it actually it, so if only 30 people came it would have still looked comfortably full. I liked this because it took the pressure off worrying about numbers of guests turning up. The room hire was free, but with an £800 min bar spend at weekend (I think it's only £500 week nights?). What I thought was great was that your food bill comes off the min spend! My buffet was £400, so I completely smashed the min spend! Again 1 less thing to worry about. Most other places in central Manchester was £1000-£1500 min spend, food not included! Bar was inexpensive too. The food, what can I say, EXQUISITE!! I had a range of tapas and the GIANT paella pan. My guests and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, most saying they are coming back in the future. Sandinista's do not allow outside catering (except for table snacks and cakes), but honestly the food there is worth it! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and assisted the night to run smoothly. I would like to mention and thank Erica personally, who kept in touch for the months I was planning & helping me, and she was fantastic on the night!! Sandinista's in my opinion is a fantastic bar, a fantastic restaurant, and the best place for a private party in Manchester. Thank you XXXX

Popped in for some tapas with my brother and had a real great time. Great vibes, proper rock 'n' roll style. Nice if you like The Clash too!
