A great concept in a great location, and well performed with sensitivity to the wee'uns present (mostly;-). Also a pleasantly flexible approach, as a delayed train meant I missed my time but they were fine with me going in the next slot. Nice to see the saccharine taken out of the Grimms. Really nice evening, would like to thank all the actors for such a good time. Really well done and thought through, with the stories really nicely reinvented (modern references), and good choice of tales. Great actors. Good for all ages, although probably not too young. I'm sure children would get something very different out of it. Wonderful for adults though in any case. Would like to thank everyone for such a nice evening, haven't hesitated to reccommend it! Very creative and well-delivered production!! As young adults with no children we really enjoyed this experience and found it equally entertaining. The actors are phenomenal and the clever use of the space was my favourite part. The audience is led by actors to different parts of the cemetery where different parts of the tales take place. It is not very long and at no point did I feel bored or unimpressed. Would highly recommend for a different kind of experience. Sarah visited Abney Park on 20 Jul 2017

Another fantastic production by Pandemonium. Abney Park was the perfect setting to tell these 'fairy' tales. A darker take on what we usually see in modern versions but a lot closer to how the Grimms Brothers invented I'm sure! There isn't always a happily every after! Just ask Grandma...The actors were all so believable in their roles. Some of the comic roles were particular highlights for us. The big bad wolf being a key part of that. I'm also thrilled that the chapel was used for Hansel & Gretel and loved how all of the stories were linked together. We'll certainly be looking out for the next production. I've always found Promenade theatre fun and immersive so the haunting, slightly surreal ambience of Abney Park was a perfect setting for Grimm's Fairy tales (often the slightly darker, less candy-coated versions though nothing too scary for little ones!). The tales themselves were wonderfully brought to life by an energised and fully-invested cast. They get the physicality that's needed in such an expansive setting and also that elusive frisson of funny & frightening that's so essential for folk-tales. Highlights included a satisfyingly strapping wolf, an unexpectedly fleshed-out backstory for Rumpelstiltskin and an American Southern Belle with a really big secret... Oh and as an added bonus; we get to go into the renovated non-denominational chapel (that had been burned-out since the 70s I believe) - I've always wanted to go in there! Gorgeously atmospheric in itself and a perfect setting for a very spooky Hansel and Gretel (complete with great Witch!). Anthony visited Abney Park on 19 Jul 2017

I wouldn't recommend, poor script and amateur performances. We left before the end and had to wait to be let out of the cemetery.

The actors were good, especially Handsel who's acting was superb!! The last story Death's godson was the most interesting. However if the play was more interactive that would add considerably to it. I expected it to be far more immersive than it actually was. However the children enjoyed it. Ayesha visited Abney Park on 16 Jul 2017

Had an absolutely lovely time. Took my 3 and 5 year olds. Both girls were enchanted with the scenes and the acting. The little one found the big bad wolf a little overwhelming but not too frightening. They loved moving around the park to the various scenes. It wasn't too tiring and very entertaining. My 8 yr old and I really enjoyed the production. But we were sad when it ended. It was too short! We could easily have seen another 4 fairytales! I brought my daughter as a suprise treat and as we walked between the tales she kept excitedly turning to me telling me how much she loved it and it was the best night! She is a tough cookie to please, so that's quite the compliment. Actors were great, characters were very believable and really well constructed. Overall a great evening, we just wanted more! visited Abney Park on 14 Jul 2017

Fortunately the weather held and we were able to thoroughly enjoy the Grimm's experience in such a venue that contributes to the mystery of the fairy tales. I cannot wait for this! Pandemonium deliver amazing performances, talented casts and interesting settings. I took my mother to see Alice in wonderland in Abney Park and it was brilliant, she couldn't stop talking about the experience for ages. Cast took the time to talk to the audience after and they were all lovely people. The audience was a real mix and all enjoyed.

Cant wait for this. Have seen Pandemonium's productions in this beautiful cemetery for the past three years consecutively and can honestly say they just get better and better. This company creates atmospheric theatre that makes you think, tremble and laugh. They create a unique brand of theatre in the most unusual places and this astonishing setting works hand in hand with their dark and mischievous style of production. Can't recommend enough.
