 Vermouth On The Roof

Summer Pop-Up at Ham Yard Hotel

Tuesday 26th July until Sunday 4th September

Ham Yard Hotel’s roof top bar is back this summer, showcasing eight new vermouth based cocktails with hand crafted mixers from the garden, by Bar Manager, Eoin Kenny.

Taking inspiration from traditional Italian aperitivo culture, where friends gather in the early evenings to enjoy flavourful drinks over a selection of antipasti, the cocktails have been designed to stimulate appetite and open up the palate. Alongside the cocktails there will be a some small antipasti bites, balancing the bitter, complex flavours of vermouth.

Each of the eight cocktails are focused around the produce harvested from the roof-top garden using hand-crafted homemade recipes such as Ham Yard citrus-ade and rooftop Jasmine sugar. The menu will showcase Regal Rogue, a native botanical vermouth from Australia; Belsazar handcrafted vermouth from Germany; and Vermouth del Professore and Contratto from Italy.

Awakening the senses, Ham Yard Hotel’s leafy roof-top garden is abundant with blooming meadow flowers, ancient olive trees and raised herb beds, the perfect setting for summer evening cocktails.

Once a week, cocktail lovers can join experts from around the world in one of four one-off masterclass sessions starting at 6.00pm for £30 per person:

Leonardo Leuci from the Jerry Thomas Project - 28th July

Jared Brown from Sipsmith - 5th August

Ian Bayliss and Fliss Gransden from Belsazar – 12th August

Fabrice Limon from Regal Rogue – 19th August

Vanessa Cinti Borgia from Contratto - 24th August

A Regal (K)night - This Master has Class! The evening was hosted by Regal Rogue, Lord Ward who knows his brand and the event and knowledge shared felt intimate yet relaxed. A great setting and rooftop spot, with snuggle blankets as the evening got cooler - Make my order another Regal Rogue Wild Rose please! Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-08-19

Really lovely place, relaxed, friendly and with a luxurious feel to it. Fantastic cocktails and great value for money. The service was really great and our waiter gave us some perfect tips on the cocktails - lovely every time. I would definitely recommend this place for drinks with friends or partner. Also lovely antipasti that just kept coming :-) Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-08-17

This is a beautiful place (including an unexpected small garden!) in the heart of central London. The drinks were very good and so was the staff. It would be great if it was available through the year, even for afternoon coffee and of course drinks as it would be extremely popular. I particularly enjoyed how laid back and simple it was and don't agree with other reviews about expecting something different. For me this was better than expected. Drinks and setting were lovely. definitely recommend. the antipasti bites were also delicious. all in all a great experience. we went on a sunday afternoon and it was virtually empty, which we liked. Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-08-14

Loved the setting, very chilled and relaxing so a great place to meet and chat with friends. Not quite what we expected though, we thought we were going to a class and would be sampling different vermouths etc. The presenter, however, made her way around each table and after two hours of waiting we left without seeing her presentation. Included in the price are two cocktails and some canapes. Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-08-12

A win win. Punters get more for our money, brand gets coverage and hotel gets customers. It felt like a social occasion. Sometimes brand presentations are one big sell. Also learned about vermouth. Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-08-12

Lovely setting. Very expensive for two cocktails not much food and effectively a Vermouth sales pitch. Could have had one more drink included perhaps a Vermouth and soda/tonic and more food as it was a chaotic buffet. Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-08-12

Great cocktails, and a beautiful setting. The service was friendly and efficient on the evening we visited. It would have been much better if each table was served their own sharing plate of canapes, having them in the centre of the rooftop was encouraged a slightly frantic atmosphere! Otherwise lovely. Canapés quickly ran out and the complimentary cocktail didn't include the G&Ts (on the same menu under the same header of cocktails) so we paid a lot more than we expected. Also the service needed more effort - they couldn't recommend which cocktails were less sweet as not knowledgeable about the drinks at all. It is a lovely venue in the centre of London, but very over-priced.

My husband and I had drinks for his birday from 4.30 till 6.30. We arrived on the terrace and as we haven't been greeted, I approached the bar to find out the terrace opens at 5PM. We've been offered the complimentary drink and the canapes were displayed later on a lovely table. Overall not a bad experience but the fact that the majority of canapes finished withing the first hour doesn't make it a 5 star evening and does not invite one to another drink. Lovely evening of cocktails and delicious canapes in a beautiful setting. The terrace is so central but feels as if you are out of London with all the beautiful flowers, trees and lanterns. 6 of us went for drinks from 7.30 - 9.30 and we only wish we could have stayed longer! Note you can only order from the menu of c. 10 cocktails, there is no wine or anything, but this doesn't matter as they are all interesting and delicious! Would definitely recommend! Went for best friends birthday with 6 girls for the 7;30-9;30PM slot and it was simply perfection. Complex, different cocktails (especially the meringue one) for reasonable prices, nice canapes, and fantastic service in simply the most gorgeous setting. Winning combination and winning evening that I would certainly recommend! Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-07-27

Beautiful terrace. Vey relaxed and calm environment. Cocktails reasonably priced and nice selection of canapés. A little oasis in the heart of Soho. I'd definitely go back. Highly recommend as I can't hunk of one fault. Visited Ham Yard Hotel on 2016-07-26
