To benefit Medicinema & The Actor's Fund

January 30th 2016

The inaugural John Steed Ball  is a celebration of the life of Patrick Macnee in his best known incarnation as John Steed in The Avengers – the perennial icon of British masculinity and style.

A cabaret discotheque at the exclusive penthouse private members club, Eight Club Moorgate, with heated terraces and stunning views of the City of London.

All guests may attend the live performances  and a Q&A with the legendary Avengers co-stars Peter Wyngarde & Fenella Fielding.

The ball is conceived by Count Indigo, doyen of the European lounge music renaissance who has organised parties for Burt Bacharach, Tony Bennett and many other luminaries.

The inaugural Steed Ball is supported by Studio Canal (who own the rights to The Avengers).

Guests are  asked to dress in Avengers-appropriate evening wear but not necessarily in bowler hats!

Profits will raise funds for two great charities of particular relevance to the memory of John Steed.

The Actor's Fund who provide help and care for everyone working in television and film industries.

Unfortunately this night was something of a disappointment. Looking at the photos and video on, I expected a lot more music, dancing a a raucous night. What we got was a very expensive small private bar and it was midnight before the band actually got started. I felt very sorry for the two guests. If you are having two elderly people at an event like this, they need to be given a private room and treated with a little more dignity instead of letting them fall asleep in a corner. I get the feeling that the team behind this event can and have put on much better nights, but this wasn't one of them! Christopher visited Eight Moorgate on 29 Jan 2016

I hate leaving bad reviews but this wasn't the night they promote on the website "Relive the hedonism of Swinging London, when Britain led the world in fashion, art, music and fun…" Too many speeches (talking about people who had passed away…) and not enough dancing! I'm sure it wasn't easy to get the wonderful Fenella Fielding and the script writers of the Avengers to attend but I didn't think this was an Avengers convention. I thought it was meant to be a fun night out! All rather doom and gloom and a little worthy. Leigh visited Eight Moorgate on 19 Jan 2016
