Every December, Swedes gather to celebrate Lucia, one of the country’s most beloved traditions - a beautiful tradition with choir music, a procession of light, and togetherness that brightens the darkest time of the year.

At the heart of the celebration is the Lucia procession, a candlelit choir dressed in flowing white gowns, led by Lucia herself, crowned with candles and radiating light. The singers perform a magical line-up of traditional Swedish (and English) carols and harmonies to celebrate Saint Lucia.

For Swedes, Lucia is more than a concert - it’s a moment of calm and reflection, a symbol of community and warmth during the long winter nights.

The LondonSwedes Lucia concerts have become a cherished tradition in London since 2016, hosted in stunning venues such as the 450-year-old Speech Room at Harrow School, the mystical Asylum Chapel in Peckham, the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith, and the Royal College of Music.

Led by Choir Director Michaela Lundin, The LondonSwedes Choir returns this December for two unforgettable performances filled with candlelight, choral beauty, and a touch of Swedish culture.

SPECIAL GUEST 2025  - TOMMY NILSSON

This year’s LondonSwedes Lucia includes a very special guest: Tommy Nilsson

One of Sweden’s most celebrated vocalists, Tommy has given us beloved classics like Öppna din dörr, Dina färger var blå, and En dag (Sweden’s Eurovision entry in 1989). His music has been a soundtrack for generations — the kind you feel. We are incredibly excited to welcome Tommy to London, where we’ll come together to share light, song, and a moment of true Swedish nostalgia in the middle of winter. ❤️

The events are open to all, regardless of nationality, and they offer a unique opportunity for both Swedes and non-Swedes to come together and celebrate the holiday season in a truly Swedish way. It is a chance to experience the warmth and charm of Swedish tradition, as well as to connect with the Swedish community in London.
