THE MUSIC THAT EVOKES BOTH SWING AND CONTEMPORARY JAZZ SIMULTANEOUSLY
Bebop, French Gypsy Swing and a little bit of jazz-fusion to ensure an amazing night! Coco ‘n’ the Fellas originally started as a Gypsy tribute quartet but soon found love in composing and arranging in their own style. Stretching the boundaries of the Swing traditions Coco will transport you to a sonic landscape of gypsy jazz, bebop, fusion and more... The band has been touring England, Scotland, Italy, Switzerland and even Bulgaria throughout the last year. Playing at renown venues such as Torino Jazz Club, Studio 5 Jazz Club, Be-bop café as well as featuring at radio stations and tv shown within Europe.
Ami Oprenova - Vocals
Daniele Cuifreda - Electric Guitar
Joe Perkins - Acoustic Guitar
Havard Tanner - Double Bass
Coco 'n' the fellas perform across the country and internationally with their signature fusion of swing and contemporary jazz. All four members are committed composers and throughout the past year they have been working on pushing boundaries in the gypsy swing style. Soon after their live performance at Milton Court (Barbican), they were offered their own shows at venues such as the legendary Le QuecumBar and Primo Bar. Recently they were accepted into the Yamaha competition as part of Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club and have been featured as part of the Jazz sessions at Blue Piano.
Their first album, 'Introducing Coco ‘n’ the Fellas’ was recorded at Surrey University soon after the band was formed. The album features some their first arrangements as a group. The first review they received by Italia in Jazz states: ‘They revisit and respect memorable milestones in the immense jazz tradition and are pioneers in their field.’ The latest album from the quartet is a Live performance at the legendary - Le QuecumBar. The Album ‘Some of our Favourite Tunes’ consists of 9 well-known standards where each adaption is unique and full of different musical colour. This is also the first album to introduce a instrumental track as well as a duo feature. Breathtaking arrangements, varied repertoire and highly regarded musicianship ensure that Coco will transport you to a sonic landscape of gypsy jazz, bebop, fusion and more.
