Brick Lane Jazz Festival makes its debut at the Truman Brewery in April 2022: Three days of jazz music set across five stages, with twenty-four performing artists, the festival will showcase the best of London’s vibrant jazz scene. On Friday 22nd April, Yakul will be taking over Ninety One Living Room stage for a unique live performance.
ABOUT YAKUL
With influences like J-Dilla, D’Angelo and Hiatus Kaiyote, Brighton based four-piece Yakul cut an idiosyncratic figure in British music. Marrying introspective emotive lyrics with deep grooves and jazz-infused progressions, they’ve created a sound that is matchless in its depth and its voracious fusion of styles and vibes across the musical spectrum.
Yakul have picked up a growing reputation on the live circuit, further cementing their status at the forefront of the international resurgent neo-soul movement. Their debut EP Getting Late was released in August 2019 with support from tastemakers like Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 6, Jamz Supernova on BBC 1Xtra, KCRW, Jazz FM and others.
The lead track ‘Blossoming’ off the EP was voted #6 Track of the Year on the prestigious Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards 2020. In addition, the band was also nominated for the Best Jazz Act of the Year at the Urban Music Awards.

Their most recent single ‘Company’ was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK and various publication playlists, going on to become their most streamed song to date. In November last year, they released their Kaleidoscope EP to general acclaim, capping the cycle with the reworked ‘Company’ featuring Mereba. Their debut album is expected at the end of this year.

The ticket holder voluntarily agrees that the management, venue, event participants, DesignMyNight (WFL Media Ltd) and all of their respective agents, officers, directors, owners and employers are expressly released by the ticket holder from any claims arising from such causes.
2. Tickets are issued subject to the rules and regulations of the venue.
3. Please check your tickets, as mistakes cannot always be rectified.
4. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
